The "Why Does BBTS Carry This?" Thread

The power of impulse purchases combined with Pile of Loot shipping, maybe? I've bought the occasional TPB from them, although usually on sale.
That's how I got Absolute Manhunter vol 1, so it definitely works some times.

Do we definitely know all this stuff is physically in their one warehouse when one orders it, or are they hot/drop shipping some of these items? How big is this place? Is it one building or a complex or what?

I don’t see a problem with BBTS graciously showcasing smaller toy companies a little leeway when they are just trying to get their foot in the door. If it weren’t for efforts like that, we wouldn’t have companies like LPZZ eventually getting their hands on the DC and Mortal Kombat license or Jada getting access to Street Fighter and Mega Man. These smaller markets need to be competitive somehow and if they have a platform like BBTS to remove that barrier of entry, then that’s great. Every company has to start somewhere.

I think I have up to 3 Kickstarter 18th figure linesets thanks to BBTS throwing in to get a project over the line, so I'm a big fan of BBTS nowadays.

Somerset, WI. The warehouse is supposed to be about 120k sq ft, which is pretty decent for an ecommerce site just doing toys and adjacent merch (for comparison, a Walmart distro center is usually around 800k to 1 million sq ft). Given their Pile of Loot system and their package grading options, I'd have to imagine most product is there. It wouldn't shock me if they own or rent additional storage space elsewhere, but for those programs you'd have to have the product where you can guarantee its availability and condition.

Ah, BBTS...the toy store website that you have to make sure nobody sees you browsing, lest they think you're shopping for sexy nuns or bikini-clad anime girls. I don't buy that sort of stuff, but I admit it is fun to browse through them and check things out just to see how ridiculous some of them get. I have a nephew who's 32, very much an incel, who would probably collect all of that stuff if he knew the website or the product existed.

I use their sales to fill up stock for my toy show vendor spots, though. Some of them are really impressive. They have (another) Super7 sale going on right now, I grabbed a wave of TMNT that had Samurai Leo, Krang, Leatherhead, and Ray Fillet all for $44, I think. Super7 and TMNT always do well at my booth, so I can put $25 on these and make a little profit. Even with them upping their standard shipping to $6, it's still pretty much the best deal in town if you don't mind waiting a bit to get your stuff.

I am amazed that there is a market for $250+ statues of anime girls in skimpy outfits. Truly amazed. I can't imagine wanting to own any of that, let alone having that on display in my house somewhere for other people to see.

Cheesecake figures I can totally get behind, I own a few...I have the Frazetta Vampirella with the massive ass, and some Loose Collector type stuff. I have a few of the Lustia figures (I think that's what they're called)...they're fun. I like to rotate them around and hide them in my display in lewd poses so when someone is looking at, say, a Justice League lineup they might get a little surprise-surprise lol

But they're also under $50 usually. The expensive statues, often very large and not bound by any sort of clothing mandate, are interesting to say the least. I don't particularly have anything against them, and to their credit they are typically very well done with the sculpting and paint applications. They aren't something I would personally want, and I'm sure Mrs. Smallville doesn't either (she loves the figures, though), but I can see how they appeal to a certain demographic. I once again think of my nephew, who has no idea this stuff exists but I bet he'd be the perfect target audience for it if he knew about it. I've seen many statues and figurines online where buttholes and vaginas are on full display, and he's always the first person I think of. He's also 32, a virgin, only had one girlfriend that he smothered before he could get any action, and thinks any girl he gets with should look like Carmen Elektra. So, I think that's why the expensive statues exist lol

I'll never begrudge someone for buying what they like, though. It's not for me, but that's okay. I can't afford half the stuff that is anyway lol

There's a store near me called Book Off (though they have stores in a couple states), a secondhand store that sells all kinds of things. But my location has 2 whole aisles of big glass cases full of anime girls in various states of undress, some for some pretty astronomical prices (which they've still ended up selling). I don't like going down that aisle for many reasons. 😅

TheRealSmallville's nephew is getting absolutely ravaged in this thread.
