I can see the appeal of that. Though it's kinda cool getting a like or laugh for something I said months ago and forgot about.

I just like the fact that I could take two days off from the forum here and -basically- be able to re-quote people and pick up where a conversation left off rather than just be like 'well... I guess I missed that entire line of discussion...'

This is part of why I come here for all my toy talk. I've unfortunately been on sites like Twitter and Tumblr for too many years, and they've gone past a point where basically any media discussion that isn't total agreement or memes turns into a random selection of slurs and terminally-online buzzwords, with no room for nuance. Incredibly antithetical to someone like me, who is highly particular about everything and usually drawn to fairly niche corners of everything I'm into.

Instagram is great for toy news, though. And cat pictures. Nothing else.

I hate Instagram so much that I have never and will never sign up. Discord I find frustrating because it's not designed to be able to pick up where you left off with a conversation. Checking in on it after being away for even a day feels like a massive chore. And the Threads feature is worthless.

Threads is impenetrable to me. At first I was annoyed I couldn't figure out how to merge into it, but then I realized I hated everything and everyone that actually generated engagement.

Reddit was my alternative to Fwoosh before this place materialized. That place sucks.

reddit reminds me of really old low tech bitnet bbs's... it's not, but that what it often looks like to me.

I do enjoy posting pics on Instagram but I don’t see anywhere format outside of forums to really enjoy dialogue. I have to digest things a bit slower.
