Star Wars Black Series

@NORM Not only does he have to extend his next quite a bit, but also has to hunch his legs inward and compress their height to fit all the way in. It's just stupid when they could have made it a little wider with slots for his legs like the OT fighters had.

Way to go, Doug Chiang!
I never realized this. Now you and Doug can share my disgust.

And the Jedi starfighters are even worse!

Has anyone seen any recent reports of the Jango/Asajj wave being found at Target? They were really early on but I haven't seen any since. Debating if I should keep holding out or not before that section gets decimated by movie merch.

I received the Bespin duel set yesterday and opened it last night. Beautiful set. The platform requires assembly for the railings and the pipes that Vader slices. The clash effect clips onto both lightsabers which helps add stability since there are no foot pegs. The wired cape is a little overdone. Huge, with a huge unsightly tag on the inside hem of the cape. I nearly cut it off but didn’t want to permanently alter the figure so I just rolled it up as tight as I could and tucked it into the hem. I can’t believe this Vader still has double knees with pegs. Luke seems all new but probably reuses some Dagobah Luke parts.

This is the second copy of this set I bought, the first I’m keeping unopened. I still have a bunch of these box set type multipacks to keep carded. Like the Endor exclusive, Cantina Showdown remake, Mustafar duel. Even going way back to the first deluxe boxed Boba Fett with Han in Carbonite. All of these got individual releases with pretty much nothing left exclusive to the multipack that I can think of.

Agreed- the Bespin set is really nice. Don't know if it's just the dopamine of new stuff, or the iconography of the scene itself, but it's got "the sauce", as the kids say. Luke is a nice upgrade to the old one, the platform itself feels pretty nice and was easy to put together. Vader's cape is a tad on the large side, but looks really cool with some finagling. Would love to see some more wired capes in the line. I like the little plastic risers they gave, but I would've liked some sort of way to affix it to the wall. I know there's been some customs you can buy, though, so not the biggest deal. Was a little wary of the price to begin with, but it feels worth it. Between this and the Mustafar set, they've been killing it with the dioramas lately. Wouldn't mind a couple more, honestly.

I think if the Mustafar set hadn't come out with so many other things I also wanted at the same time I would've got it. I never keep things MIB/MOC but the sets I wish I had were the cantina, the Hoth set, and the Endor set, though I fuckin' LOVE the figures from the Endor set. I don't regret unboxing so much as I wish there was an easier way to store them in there between tinkering with them.

My mistake of rewatching the prequels this week is that I am now eyeballing the battle droid on a speeder and wishing I had a second super battle droid so I have a matched pair... and both the speeder set and the two-pack with a clone and super battle droid are in stock. I don't NEED them though, but I'm definitely in high prequel mood right now.

Speaking of, watched Revenge of the Sith on the treadmill yesterday. We should have a Bail Organa by now, and a generic Alderaan guard (or hey, Captain Antilles, why not), Agen Kolar and Saesee Tiin to finish the Palpatine failed arrest team. Captain Typho would be a nice get some day. And really a Sly Moore, Mas Amedda, and a new Palpatine figure would be a bitchin' three pack, wouldn't it?

Sio Bibble deserves a figure just because he's got a stupid name even for Star Wars and that warrants immortality.

The releases where the box was the diorama- the Hoth Set, Endor set, and Han/Mynock set (I'm sure there were others, but I think those were the only ones I had) were all really nice, but just took up too much room (ironically). The Endor set especially- awesome presentation, but a heckin' space eater. Plus, as an OOB collector, I want to pose my pretty little plastic people in ways that won't warp them from the bubble. I really do think that some larger Black series dioramas could work- at the very least, some sort of segmented thing like the Tantive IV or Death Star Walls. Something you could as a display, but also photograph well. An Endor bunker would be cool as well, or if they'd given us the Duel of the Fates set with one of the long platform pieces. Pretty much all of these and more can be bought 3D printed from places like Etsy, but they're pricey little suckers. Worth it, most of the time, but still.

It also surprises me we never got any sort of War Room holotable or anything. Especially once they started releasing the Holocomm Collection (may she rest in peace). I know they included the pucks, and again, there's some cool customs you can get that give the impression of a full-sized hologram. But that would've been such a cool way to display the Palpatine Holocomm figure we never got. Something like the sets they made back in the day- the Jedi Council set and the Geonosis War Room set- could be really cool, even if it would have to be bought in sections like it was before. The former would have to be massive, but a nice little diorama of the latter with all the Separatist members around it could be awesome.

Good choices all around, doc! I agree that a Palpy's Pals set would be awesome- Sly Moore and Mas Amedda (with removable tongue, of course). Do the same with other factions- Senate with Padme, Mon, Bail, other aliens. Separatists with San Hill, Wat Tambor, Rune Haako. And of course a Podracer pack or 2; ones they don't think could sell on their own, but might in a pack. Some non-droid/non-clone Prequel army builders would be nice as well- Naboo guards seem like an easy enough give, and if it leads to Panaka and/or Typho, all the better. Sio Bibble and Ric Ollie would unironically be welcome, I think. They're basically nothing characters, but so silly and so earnest that they wind up being charming. Say what you will about the prequels, but they really are gold mines in terms of cool character designs.

I still want the circular Senate platform. Break it up into fours with Padme, Mon, Bail and someone else or into two with a special Padme and Senate Speech Mon. Bail should be released in the regular line - or come with Mon in his "Andor" look. ;)
