Up until the last 20 years, name recognition for DC characters to a general populace would be WAY ahead: Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Robin, Supergirl, Batgirl, Joker, Penguin, Riddler, Catwoman, Lex Luthor, Aquaman, and Lois Lane would be the easy ones, with Flash, Brainiac, Mr. Freeze...
