ML Secret Wars

If the line is evergreen its time to lose the shields. Nice nod they did, but at this point it's eating into the budget on these for something I am pretty sure isn't that wanted. Certainly not above some of the extras we are mentioning.

DD is likely to be cancelled by me as well. I mean I could fix all the issues he has but not feeling like I should have to. Close but no cigar is so tiring. They actually have something new to offer a DD; that new body. Don't need to gimmick it out.

So on the one hand, I understand the frustration with the Daredevil deco... on the other hand this is an homage to the Secret Wars toyline and this figure DOES look like that one.

I gleefully bought all the Secret Wars figures... Marvel was my main fandom and it had been some years since any new Mego Marvel figure had been made. I was so happy to get them even though Magneto had no cape, Dr. Doom looked like a robot, Spider-Man's head was tiny... but it didn't matter because these were the only Marvel toys there were.

As a comic reader I was baffled when the subsequent releases weren't characters from the book like Hulk, Thor, Cyclops, the Fantastic Four... and instead were Daredevil, Falcon and Baron Zemo.

Anyway, as someone with a lot of nostalgia for the Secret Wars toy line, I don't mind the deco on Daredevil and Wolverine matching the vintage toys, even tho it isn't comic accurate. Daredevil being in the Secret Wars line isn't comic accurate, anyway

I really wish they'd stop trying to make the new Legends resemble the original crappy toys (e.g., Cap's stripes, Wolvie's color scheme & abdomen details, Daredevil's enormous black Ds
I do wonder who it's for.

I've seen a few folks here say, "It's a cool nod," but does anyone actually prefer it to the classic looks?

The cynic in me thinks it's a way to sell another red Daredevil before they release the real McCoy. Or the real Murdock, in this case.

Your inner cynic is right.

BTW, if that Armored Daredevil Matt Murdock head is just sitting in someone's unused fodder bin and you won't miss it, PM me. :)

Wow I dig the Daredevil deco. I love the sharp contrast. Also I guess my brain defaults to this since SW was my first Daredevil exposure.
As for Absorbing Man: that extra, smiling, eyebrow head is clearly for hanging out with Titania. No-eyebrows is for scrapping with Thor.

Dan wants to know if we want a Wave 3.
Wave 2 rumors/leaks happened back in May/June of 2025.
We've been told it takes 12-18 months to make a figure, from initial character approval to shipping.
Also, that they are already working on 2028.
So, logic would dictate Wave 3 is already well into the design/sculp phase for a 2027 release.
Am I right or am I way off base?

Sounds right.

I do not. These shields are an ugly, useless waste of plastic - give me effects pieces, alt heads, BAF parts with that plastic! The packaging is huge for no reason and the bubbles are empty, so another waste of material. All of these characters can be included in other sublines with BAF parts. The Secret Wars "expression" is not doing it for me.

Also, I'd be surprised if they could label things "Secret Wars" in 2027 outside of the movie.

Ditch the shields and I'll buy a few more X-Men if they look decent. Cyclops, Colossus, Nightcrawler, whatever. Not too much else I'm going to jump at from this line. Magik is my one off "ok fine I'll get that."

I'm all for them continuing the Secret Wars waves if they continue the same trend of character selection - it's basically a purely "classic"/pre-90's Marvel theme. There is a ton more stuff I'd like to see in the same vein as Titania, Beyonder, Constrictor, Absorbing Man, Magik, and Falcon. Bring it on.

This is a big draw for me. Secret Wars waves are guaranteed to be right in the era of characters I'm collecting. Obviously I'd like a version that skips the throwback shield and slightly off homage paint schemes, but it got me a new Absorbing-Man and classic Falcon, so...

I really hope they'd make a third wave. There are so many characters that I want to see them make or remake on the Retro "Secret Wars" card. I don't know if they're going to do another Spider-Man for wave three, but I'd love a classic red-and-blue suit that isn't battle damaged with the correct eye lenses. I am amazed none of the villains from Mattel's "Secret Wars" series have actually been made in either wave yet. Think about it. There's no classic Doctor Doom, no Doctor Octopus, no Kang and no Magneto. Heck, even Baron Zemo, the Hobgoblin and Electro have been left out. If there is a third wave, I would love to see classic Spidey, classic Thor, Wasp, Volcana, classic Doctor Doom and classic Doc Ock with bendable wire tentacles. Having some Deluxe figures like the Hulk and figures for the Wrecking Crew would be cool too.

I also got the new wave's Daredevil and Falcon figures pre-ordered. I'll eventually get Absorbing Man and Constrictor when I can afford them. Magik is a maybe one day and that partial-symbiote Spider-Man is the only one I won't buy.
