General Marvel Legends

...But they've got my dead to rights here. Thor is top 5 or so favorite Marvel characters for me, and this is my favorite look he's ever had. But if this were like.. Classic Thor? Easy pass.
Now Hasbro could easily get me to double-dip with a classic Thor done like this. I put a Rebel10 custom cape on my 80th Thor, so I'm actually quite happy with that, but he's slightly showing his age with pinned joints and lack of butterfly joints.

I dumped Classic Thor because of his wibbly wobbly boobly woobly knees. Especially with the weight of that plastic cape - I had to keep him on a flight stand on at all times, which wasn't even fun because his cape was not really in motion.

I'm not necessarily opposed to a new Classic Thor - or a new ANY Thor, for that matter. I think basically all Thor variants need upgrades at this point. I just don't think I could make myself pay Maximum prices for any but this one.

Thor 100% feels worth the Maximum label to me, and he's the first figure to do so. Completely new and unique (save maybe some hands), a full complement of accessories, novel features that we don't see elsewhere in the line (wired cape, multiple face/head/hair combos), a cool pack-in Throg, and a high level of paint detailing. Considering a wired cape alone would cost $20 to pick up he's easily worth the asking price (assuming he's in the same $50-55 range).

I would say the format is just 'premium elements,' right? More hands than ML figures get, extra accessories, effect parts, a slug, two heads with three faces, AND a wired cape. To be entirely fair to Hasbro - that is definitely way more than even a deluxe figure gets. I don't think they view the figure itself as needing to be any more premium in any way. It just needs to be a standard ML figure but with a ton of extra stuff. And it does have that.

Now.. is all that stuff actually worth the Max. asking price? In my opinion? No. Which is why I told them to fuck off with the previous Max. offerings and probably will again with any future ones. But they've got my dead to rights here. Thor is top 5 or so favorite Marvel characters for me, and this is my favorite look he's ever had. But if this were like.. Classic Thor? Easy pass.

Also.. if anyone just wants Throg and doesn't mind paying shipping, we can chat. I have no interest in Throg.
Nevermind... that went quick.
It sounds like you like the way this one looks, and I hope It does hold up and is made well. It's nice to get something you really want and think it looks great. Congrats. Hopefully it isn't egregiously overpriced due to "market forces". The first Maximum was US $49.99. Let's see where this one falls.

Oh no. It's definitely going to be egregiously overpriced. That's the nature of the Maximum releases and was my main complaint about them and not wanting that to become the new standard for whenever a figure needs some extra stuff. All the Maximum figures are rip-offs. Straight up.

I still can't believe there's a Marvel character named Speedball AND they're allowed to call him that on packages in the children's toys aisle in Walmart. But here we are, with people arguing about whether 'Hellstrom' can be at retail.
I randomly was listening to terrestrial radio the other day and was aghast to discover that "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" is now more censored than it used to be. Once upon a time it was the "goddamn" that was just omitted, but now there's a "shh" over the "whore".

Truly, we live in weird times.

The real question is..... is @TheSameIdiot happy with his new Magik figure?
I wanted to take some time to reflect before I really got into it.

I'll start with the negative.
  • I have concerns about Magik's hip range. If that's the old teen body, it's going to be terrible. The promo pics aren't inspiring much confidence.
  • Every figure should have butterfly joints in 2026.
  • Part of me wishes she wasn't on a teen body. Illyana has been an adult for a while now, and she's worn this costume and its derivatives as an adult. That said, I think if you're doing the classic New Mutants, they have to be teenagers.
Overall, I think they crushed it. While I didn't like the head at first, it's grown on me. The metal arm looks fantastic. They gave her an appropriate sword!

Between this and the Marvel Rivals-inspired custom I have planned, I'm finally set on Yana.

His rant about (paraphrasing) collectors complaining that even if you have just revealed updated figure, somebody else doesn't have that figure yet, so basically shut up.
I didn't mind this. The line wouldn't last this long without onboarding new collectors.
The thing with Dwight forgetting the teases - how far away is his office from the studio? That just seemed really odd to me.
My guess is they're in totally different buildings.

Man, they're more like $25-30 now.

Constrictor looks ok, but prefer the Terrax wave version.

This can't possibly be true... That Constrictor figure was bad at the time it was released... and has aged poorly since. Constrictor was one of the most 'in need of update' figures Hasbro ever made. (Doc Sampson is also on that list).

I'm pretty thrilled with the Secret Wars wave. I'surprised at everyone's disappointment in Absorbing Man... Obviously the version with transforming pieces will be released as a deluxe figure in two years.
Even the Spider-Man is something they haven't released before.

I'm in for almost everything they showed unfortunately. We'll see if I can hold out on Onslaught like I have with Nimrod.
