Should have gotten on this sooner, but here we are. Just to keep the existing thread cleaner for Beamish to deal with, I thought we could discuss our, and each other's, top 10 picks here.
For single figures I found myself coming to a lot of figures I just shamelessly want redos of; Thor (Coipel), Nova Prime, Black Knight, Malekith, and Punisher. Literally half of my top ten is figures I think Hasbro can do so much better than what we have. And blasphemous as it may be, I want these way more than I want most as-yet-unmade characters. Also Shatterstar v2 hasn't moved from the top of my list since the very first time I ever participated in a top 10 vote. So, both Hasbro and ToyBiz have failed me.
For the BAF/Deluxe figure, I went with Vengeance because I feel like it's the only place to properly get a Vengeance figure with his bike. Doesn't really fit in to the other categories. Unfortunately, there only being one spot that I could really argue 'can include a motorcycle' means that de-powered John Blaze didn't make my list. Bummer! They need to make Vengeance this year so John can be on my list next year.
Maximum was pretty hard because I vacillate between thinking the whole idea of Maximum is a lame cash-grab and kind of being okay with it if we can get certain things. I ended up going with the tried-and-true tigerstripe Wolverine. I just would really like to see Hasbro basically take on a Medicom/Mezco approach to Wolverine and give us four different heads, a bunch of different hand/claw options, etc etc. Especially if it also means an even more articulated body that's still in proper scale with other Legends (maybe even shorter than his current figures by a hair?).
HOWEVER, this was a toss-up and I very nearly said Maximum Coipel Thor. I'm still not really sure how I feel about this because I feel like it's VERY unlikely Hasbro would go with the Coipel/Return version of Thor if they put him in the Max line. We'd probably get classic Thor. And I do not want that. But a Coipel Thor with a bunch of hands, different facial expressions, helmet/unhelmeted options, Mjolnir effect parts, maybe even a wired cape (or maybe just separate cape options for 'regular' and 'blowing in the wind')? That would be incredible too.
I very pointedly did not choose anything for a HasLab because I'm convinced Hasbro is not willing to make a reasonably priced HasLab. See: Hellcharger. I just don't think there's any singular item that Hasbro can make that I'd be willing to drop over 500 CAD on.
