McFarlane DC Multiverse

Like most things trendy, Grant Morrison was probably onto it ahead of the rest of us. Per usual. Pyg has a very “true crime podcast” vibe to me. Either that or it’s a huge coincidence. Which I find doubtful.

Try the Mezco arm with bases offered by canofbeams.com. You get the great arm and almost the same stability without the huge footprint.

Love those things! They are fantastic! I've bought a few extra stands from Mezco to pair with the CoB bases and they really work well.
Does that one work? I have one I bought years ago when he first designed them, but it looks much larger than that one. I’m not sure that one would be able to balance the big Mezco one.
I've had really good luck with them. Have several flying characters on them and they really help to reduce the space that the Mezco bases take up.

Pyg is interesting as a character created by Morrison. Grant always goes the extra mile for Bat villains to flesh them out. However, I find Pyg nearly as disturbing as Zsasz. Maybe a little more disturbing in some respects.

Again, what's he a professor of? Meat pies?
Oinkology, duh.

But in all seriousness, considering his skill in plastic surgery, and, well, surgery of all sorts, he could just be a Professor of Plastic Surgery, which is, apparently, a thing.

Now, regarding villains that toe the line of kooky and creepy, I'm surprised we've never gotten a figure for Great White Shark. Feels like he'd be a pretty easy platinum chase for Black Mask.

The true crime podcast boom didn't start till 2014 so I don't think it had much influence on the character, who debuted in 2007 (although police procedurals and true crime material are evergreen in television and nonfiction books). I suspect Pyg was more inspired by the then-current vogue for torture porn horror films, although there's some Pygmalion and Dr. Moreau stuff in there too. Which may have been a way to pretend they weren't just trying to give Batman a Saw/Human Centipede villain.

It’s most likely this.

Pygmalion
That’s the actual genesis of his name, pig mask aside. His whole deal is “remaking” people, like Professor ‘Enry ‘Iggins but with more blood and power tools: which, to be fair, would have made My Fair Lady a lot cooler.

...this is me remembering that Rex Harrison was in both My Fair Lady and Dr. Dolittle. Is Professor Pyg supposed to be Evil Rex Harrison?!
