NECA - General Thread

How weird that there's all this Babyface Killer merch like a day after I finally watch the first movie (I know the Toony was announced a while ago, just let me feel special). The cloth figure looks nice, but I'd really prefer an Ultimate. Same with Grabber; I'd say he may be popular enough currently to warrant an Ultimate, but I'm not sure about Babyface, since it's been almost 7 years since the last film. But I'd say, recency bias aside, he'd be at least as popular as any of the Conjuring Ultimates (which, granted, isn't great, but it's something).

Checked out the local Target this morning for the first time in a while. The only NECA thing in the collector's section was a lone Beetlejuice. Basically the same as last time I checked a few weeks back. Really, the entire toy section of the store was pretty bare and pathetic. Empty pegs everywhere. We're dinosaurs.

Yeah, my two Targets were pretty bare-bones yesterday- just an Evil Dead Ash at one, and 1 Ultimate Hooper, 1 Ultimate Count, and the torn up Ultimate Ardeth Bay that's been sitting there for months. There's always that post-holiday period where stores haven't restocked yet and everything feels so sad. Not that my NECA sections are ever well-stocked, but hopefully in a few weeks it'll pick up again.

Mine still has a decent assortment of stuff, but it is a lower volume than it historically has been (we also just did finish out the holiday shopping season). There's far more encroachment from Funko, McFarlane, and other brands into the NECA area because that's where the space is. The figures available rarely change though: most recent TMNT two-packs, Last Ronin stuff, Archie Leatherhead, scattered horror, and some random TMNT Bugman and Electrozapper two-packs that showed up in the last couple of weeks.

Post Christmas to Inventory Time void.

Even working glory days TRU it always felt like a funeral parlor.

So now that Amy Madigan is winning awards for playing Gladys in Weapons, how long until we can get a Gladys Ultimate? Both the wigged and unwigged versions? 😂 In all seriousness, I could totally see NECA putting out a Toony Terrors Gladys; feels like she definitely fits that style.

I'd buy a Toony Gladys in a heartbeat!

Definitely, she'd be perfect for that format. Her appearance is already sort of grotesquely stylized within the context of the movie, there's an unsettling living cartoon vibe to her.

Yeah, he seems like he'd be pretty easy to pull off in the Mego format, and they can probably figure out enough reuse to make an Ultimate viable. The Toony looks fun. The skulking kinds of killers are always pretty charming in that format.

Just keep bringing on the B-tier slasher villains. They could probably re-use that Thing movie poster figure for the Urban Legend killer.

Good idea! I always forget about Urban Legend; definitely one of the campier entries, even amongst all the campy 90's horror movies, but I'd totally take a Parka Killer, or whatever they're called. Heck, part of me is tempted to get the Thing poster figure and just make my own; does seem like it would be easy enough.
