To be fair, the bio didn't specify WHICH BAT it references. Could be V2. As far as I'm concerned, all BATS are secretly vindictive trolls in robot bodies.

Oh for sure. But there's no v2 BAT for me to run out and buy. So I've still gotta hold myself back from just being like 'I need a BAT, any BAT.'
 
Would you have been okay with a BAT v1 figure that included a V2 head, ala the Night Creeper? I keep wondering when they'll do more of that. Iceberg maybe?

Absolutely not. I didn't like it on the Night Creeper, either. But in that case I didn't care because I fuckin' hate the ARAH v2 Night Creepers and don't care if they ever get made.
 
I’m pretty convinced they included the v2 Night Creeper head just because they had the budget at the time and because v2 NC will now be an easy EASY layup with available parts so they can “Grim Viper” him into any wave.
I do like the v2 head in v1 colors as an option for the figure though. “Steel head plate with kinda Arabian headgear and, like, a snorkel mask?” is an odd look with v1, classic, but odd.
 
Yeah, I should clarify that I love that they included the v2 head as an option for those that want it. I'm a big proponent of 'more options, make as many people happy as possible.'
But if including the option is IN LIEU of doing the proper version at some point; I do not like that at all.
 
Fair. Well, I know they're steaming right ahead but last night I actually came to wonder when/if they're gonna get to later versions of some characters. The big names are one thing, but (and apologies Damien) how likely is Sci Fi V2 as long as there's still a long list of RAH and even post RAH 2000s characters to do, even without touching the comics and cartoon-only people? Along with the easy repaints and new viper units they're creating.
 
That's always the concern several years into a line with MANY characters, a good chunk of whom are not popular enough to get a figure or aren't popular enough to get multiple less popular variants. Same issue with Marvel Legends where we always talk about how shitty at is that we may never even get X character, or Y figure is the ONLY chance we will EVER have of getting X character. It can be disheartening if those are your favourites.
 
Maybe I'm being polyannaish but with the pace of releases, I really could see Classified doing those V2s. they don't seem to be afraid to dip into obscure territory and aren't hesitant to recreate some of the weirdest stuff the line has sone over the years. I could honestly see them doing like, the version of Low Light who had dark hair and a beard but getting us to double-dip by including two heads, one blonde and one black-haired. They've squeezed a lot of juice from the original BAT but it's not a stretch to see them doing BAT v2 and then doing a crimson, an IG, an arctic, a Python Patrol version of it all over again..

Ugh, you're right. Those Legends discussions were always something I was on the outside of looking in, but now here I am with no Destro yet heh.

Well true, looking at the Scream Man's handy thread, they've really done most of the early 80s. They could get the first three years finished right now with one wave and a double set.

And Low Light was always a question mark for me as far as... Will they do him accurate to the toy or keep consistency with the first version? Duh, two heads! And also ugh because I would have to get that.

And I guess NOT ever including the BAT V2 head or Sci Fi V2 head with that guy is a really good sign as well. I'm not as hot for the V2 of a lot of the Cobra troopers, especially the basic Viper, but still wanna see what classified does with them. And also really hoping for a PP of the retro viper.

Oh, and they ARE doing NF Zartan so that's another V2 coming...

Revisiting the "How could/should they do Scar-Face" discussion from the One A Day thread, how about a repaint of the #21 Cobra Islans Firefly with the emblem in the middle of his chest and the Cobra Officer webgear in a different color from the Officer release, and include the Rattler Gunner head/neck. (And an Officer helmet)

Oh I am hot to trot for Cobra v2s; way more than Joe v2s. I *need* the Battle Corps Viper: I absolutely love that design, and purple and hot orange pop so hard. Eel v2, HEAT-Viper v2 are arguably superior to their v1s in my view. And I love the lunacy of the V2 Night Creeper, wacky gold-helmet Cobra Commander, beefy Star Brigade BAAT . . . hell, gimme Cobra Commander in a space suit.

It’s weird, but some of those later ARAH figures, which I bought and owned as a fully fledged teenager and definitely have no actual childhood nostalgia for, are actually some of my favorites.

And I need my Ninja Force Snake-Eyes immediately.

Okay, I can see HEAT Viper being better just because the V1's offset helmat drove me fucking nuts as a kid. I can appreciate all these guys are interesting and ridiculous, but the Viper and Eel don't feel as much like the regular, basic troops the V1s did to me. I get that's entirely because of my perspective. I'm sure someone who came in later sees those as THE regular, basic troops, that's fine.

Completely weird but I'm sure there's some kinda reason for it. I dunno, I love Kenner packaging and such, but the POTF2 cards that started after I graduated high school kinda give me a warmer feeling in a way. I guess because it felt like Star Wars was making a comeback, and at the time I saw that as a good thing.

Yeah, I can't not think of you when I see that design. I'm anxious to see the Classified version not just for your sake but also because I really do want to see how cool it can look too. I'll probably even get him to be someone else.
