U.S. Politics

Is 55 to 41 a blowout? We always see headlines like "mandate" and "overwhelming" at that kind of margin and while it's uncommon, I think of a blowout more like 80/20. Not sure that's ever happened in a US election.
It's not about nebulous concepts like "mandates." And I doubt we'll ever see another Reagan/Mondale map again.

A 14-point generic ballot means Republicans will lose safe seats. The 2018 generic ballot was D+8.4. Dems won the House 235-199. This is nearly twice that number, and Trump's policies haven't even begun to hurt yet.

In the Senate, North Carolina and Maine were already on the table. You can add Ohio, Florida, Texas, Iowa, and Montana. If you get a strong candidate in Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, etc., those states could be up for grabs, too.

The Reagan/Mondale thing was what I think of when I hear "landslide", but the popular vote was still 58.8%/40.6%. I'm not saying it's not impressive or important, just more commenting on the language we use. It's like how awesome was diluted over time.

"After careful consideration, I have decided that since the Epstein files are overrated and fake news, it is time to finally release Victoria's Secret. People have been waiting for years. Tremendous lingerie, unbelievable angels. Nobody knows angels like I do. Some say better than the Epstein files. People have said so."

All right. You guys are smarter than me with a lot of this stuff.

Friend of mine works for a union in Jersey. During the initial tariff kerfuffle, his 401k was tanking and he was really stressed.

He's noticed that the past 2 weeks it is skyrocketing. Still not enough where he would be able to live off it if he had to retire today, but we were trying to figure out why it was surging given headlines.

Any broad financial ideas?

Attorney General Pam Bondi said in a statement announcing the indictment. "No one is above the law, least of all powerful people who rob taxpayers for personal gain. We will follow the facts in this case and deliver justice."
riiiiight....

And it was something totally different before it got co-opted but oh well. It's a nasty ugly thing and yah, if you're cool with it or think someone should be allowed to hang it up or something, go get fucked.

this is dangerous...

He's going to implicate all of America in the weirdest money laundering scheme ever.
GOING to?

Both my grandfathers served in the military, and they both nearly gave their lives fighting against the assholes who wore that symbol.

This is sickening.
More sickening that there are people serving in the United States Military that -desire- to display that symbol.
