You're a movie guy. You should check out Shapiro's channel sometime. He's transitioned a 'I want to love this movie, but it's just so woke' movie review grift. Don't forget that Shapiro originally wanted to be a filmmaker and has a delusion that he was blackballed out but is actually, himself, SUPER talented with an excellent critical eye for films. But he also, like all conservatives, has NO media literacy or ability to see beyond his own perspective. So him reviewing a movie is fucking hilarious.

Oh, absolutely. MTG in particular wants to run for president.

I find it a little frightening. Republicans pretending to be decent again is probably better for the country, but it makes it far more likely that the Dems lose in 2028.

Oh, I saw his review of either Knives out or Glass Onion, can't recall which, which just hysterically, monumentally, missed every point made in the film just so he could have the most trash of all trash takes. His media literacy is so bad, so ignorant, so smooth-brained that I really wish it also hurt. I wish when he had thoughts about art it would give him a nosebleed.

You should probably be more frightened of all the never-Trumpers that switched sides a long time ago. The last thing the Democrats need, and exactly what they got from that, was a thousand more Manchins and Sinemas.
 
The American two-party system has created a duopoly that consolidates power in undemocratic ways, but given that it's the system we have to work with, I'd still rather form a coalition of moderates with likes of Manchin and Sinema if it meant keeping the oligarchs and true fascists out of power. Purity tests only help homogeneous political movements.

But that's precisely the opposite of what happened.
Because that's precisely the opposite of what happens when you let people who are CLEARLY Republicans run and sit as Democrats. They side with the Republicans on everything that matters, and you get where we are now.

His Barbie review was so hilarious. You'd swear they tied him to the chair and cut his balls off as part of the 4D experience. Not enough strong men in the movie for Ben. Too many ambitious women. It was a true horror film for him.

Reminds me of when that absolute scumfuck Shadiversity began his real descent into psycho status by freaking out that there's a scene in the Mario movie where Princess Peach wears pants, and how could he POSSIBLY take his daughter to see such a movie? He doesn't want her to grow up to be a 'girl boss.' Because, you know, he's a hardline conservative Mormon and his daughter needs to understand that she is not a girl boss, she is property.

Now if he’d said that he doesn’t want his daughter to become a “girl boss” because that is just taking on the negative traits of the patriarchal capitalists and weaponizing them in the same way the patriarchal capitalists do, and he wants her to be stronger, better, and more ethical than that . . . well, then we’d be cooking.

God, that fucking guy. I recall seeing like one or two of his and Lindybeige's early videos and thinking "neat, some dudes talking about medieval life stuff, maybe I'll come back later". Then later I came back and HOO-BOY that was a mistake.

It's so much worse than it seems like, too. I often encounter people in the HEMA/history sphere that lament Shad not sticking with history content and keeping his politics to himself because they enjoyed his content before. And like... he was so wrong. About so many things. The guy was essentially drummed out of the entire HEMA community because he blatantly and loudly refused to stop spreading misinformation. He had public fights with practitioners and -instructors- on what qualifies as HEMA (Shad's entire argument can be boiled down to 'if I play fight with swords, that is HEMA').

In a way I'm actually glad Shad moved on to being a reactionary loser more openly, because at least it drove more intelligent folks away from his inaccuracy/lie-riddled history content.

Lindybeige is also problematic; he's a climate change denier and has expressed some other troubling right-wing views. I have no proof, but I'm fairly confident he has a lot of awful views that he just doesn't talk about. Also, his videos are FILLED with opinion-presented-as-fact, and he's generally terrible at parsing the data he does use.

The other big one is Metatron; he's a full-on right-wing grifter that also does/used to do history content. He's probably the smartest/best informed of the three (actually.. not probably.. he definitely is). The problem is that basically everything he says comes down through the filter of "why straight white men are actually the real victims in every scenario." So... his videos are trash and he is trash.

Anyone looking for history/HEMA content ... just avoid those three. They're terrible.
