Four Horsemen Studios Mythic Legions

As others have stated, the 2.0 characters don't seem to mesh well with this wave. At least not thematically. It's kind of like one of their All-Stars wave where half the wave is new stuff and the other half is reissues. I was ready to write off a nautical wave, but I think this wave (other than the reissues) is rather strong. I kinda like all of them.

I just don't think I'm ready to commit to these particular 2.0s. I don't think I need another female crusader. I have enough of that faction. While Vitus 2.0 has double-jointed elbows (the 4H have apparently entered the newest century), I don't feel a need to get him again. So it's nigh All-In for me.

crab guy
walrus guy
fish lady
imp
accessory set

I think I'll be passing on the rest.

Bulwarqq (the crab), is an absolute get.

But...

I'll likely cave and get Mobu and Odobenn as I love manimals. Plus, Dzinjar, the imp and the Accessory Set. Vitus Prime is tempting too, but I think I'll pass on him. Same for Captain Ironskul

Basically I just want the helmet off the female templar, maybe the Manta Ray guy and the pirate accessory pack and whatever cutlass-style sword the non-pirate fisherman with the 1700s lobotomy plate on his head, comes with.

Not a lot for me to obsess over with this line, especially given the prices. Most of these will be "do I have money I want to blow on stuff I don't really need or want" purchases. And given Mondo's TMNT singing it's siren song from the sewers at me, these will most likely be an afterthought or not at all.

I'd consider the Spartan-esque figure but the shield isn't accurate, the helmet is too ornamental and has been reissued to the max. Not tickling my historical fancy.

I'm kinda disappointed they put VItus and Delphina in this wave - not because I don't want them, but because I wonder if they took two spots for more interesting seafaring world building.

This is absolutely not an attempt to start an argument or anything, I'm genuinely curious: What do you mean by 'accurate?' Accurate to what, I guess is what I'm asking. The character is a pretty ridiculous (in a fun way) hodgepodge of fantasy armor vaguely reminiscent of different historical eras already.

I think we can agree it's modeled on a spartan soldier or at the very least a hoplite. For which the helmet and shield are the biggest turnoff to me due to the obvious inaccuracies / over-ornamentation. Great for someone who wants it solely for the fantasy aspect of it, a miss for me who'd appreciate a newer spartan-style helmet sculpt without all the ornamentation. Just a matter of taste.

I don't know that we can (with respect). His torso looks pretty heavily modeled after a (fantasy) Roman 'segmentata' armour. The pteruges with the lion head belt thing looks a lot more like it's based on Roman pop culture stuff than the type of pteruges we'd generally associate with Spartans, or ancient Greeks more generally. The forearms are clearly just fantasy stuff. The sabatons are purely medieval. The greaves are probably fantasy Greek, but one could argue Romans had them too. The helmet is -definitely- Greek-inspired. And his swords are a fantasy medieval longsword and a fantasy Roman gladius.

All that is to say; I'd struggle to see the shield as the thing that isn't accurate. He's a weird little hodgepodge as it is - arguably more Roman than Greek. In EITHER case you'd be right that the shield doesn't really make sense. It has more of a Middle-east vibe. Which, I mean, I guess if he's a fantasy Roman-Greek dude, maybe he stole a fantasy Persian's shield? Or he time-traveled to fantasy medieval Italy and got himself a fantasy rotella.

And all this just reminds me how bad I just want some good historical figures. I'm almost at the point of giving up and just collecting actual miniatures again.

I feel that way about a lot of 4H stuff. For my personal tastes, a bunch of it really could stand to be dialed back from an 11 to like an 8.

Reminds me we haven't seen anything on that samurai/oni line in a minute. Wonder if that's out at Legion Con this weekend. It was at least int he ballpark of historical for the full samurai dude.

Yeah. I know Jason (owner of Spero) had some personal troubles like a house fire and such, so I'm sure that slowed him down for a while. The AWOK line hasn't been moving particularly fast either. I was definitely interested in his samurai figure, though. Definitely appeals to me more than the FUCKING ASYMMETRICAL warrior animals.

Cool reveals. Definitely want Vitus 2.0 and Delphina 2.0 since I get all the Knights Templar.

The crab man looks great as well. The serpentine mermaid looks cool, too.

As someone who isn't very into the human-animal hybrids, the stars from this wave were Vitus and Delphina. I missed the original ones but I honestly don't feel bad about it anymore, these look amazing. I'm not sure I like the 'wig' thing they're doing with these newer heads, but I guess I can always just glue it.

Also the new sculpted cloth torso on the DnD Paladin is cool, I was starting to think they were overusing cloth goods at this point.
