Tracking toy tariffs

Man, I hope so. Though the current rhetoric appears to be 'we just have to get through a little hardship now then things will be the best ever'.

I assume what happens after a little hardship now will be massive hardship that will come to be known as The Trump Depression. Bigger than the Great Depression, it'll be the greatest depression ever seen. I'm sure I'm not the first person to make that joke.

To be fair, I enter into a Trump Depression every time I look at the man. Some say it's what did the Pope in, though he seems to have had a bad case of Vanceatitis on top of it. There is currently no known cure.

Same. When I open a browser window at work, the homepage is of course news stuff and it's just littered with images of the guy and the various shenanigans the algorithm believes I should be plagued with.

Yeah that's another thing. IF Trump were to go for any reason, and Vance stepped up... I can't imagine him accomplishing anything that would get him elected further, but what would a Vance presidency even look like? I'd guess he can sign horrible documents as well as the other guy.

The only bright spot is NOBODY seems to like Vance. He's so universally loathed, even by his own side. (I still can't believe THAT guy got a book and movie deal.) In the very least I don't see anyone suggesting Vance become the next Pope.

On the UPS thing, just had to laugh because I had a package arrive from UPS right now and it is FLATTENED. The contents are fine but the box looks like someone kicked it from the warehouse to my door. The timing of it given the convo about their layoffs just made me chuckle. I picked up the box and said "who did this to you?" as I brought it in the house.

I'd imagine a Vance presidency kinda like Tommen from Game of Thrones, minus the good-natured soul and actual desire to do right by the people- he's the wimpy younger brother who stumbles into power, but he's naive and impressionable enough that it would be literally every other person of power influencing him and his actions.

I would assume it's a product of anticipated lower demand and Amazon allocating more resources to their own trucks. I haven't received a package from Amazon that wasn't delivered by Amazon in quite some time. I am located near a hub though, which is annoying because sometimes these Amazon trucks are occupying every damn pump at the gas station.
This whole deal sucks a lot for me. I live in a rural town in E. Washington, about 1,000 people live here. As such, USPS doesn't deliver to our houses, we have to go to the local post office to pick up our mail and packages. UPS would deliver Amazon packages straight to my door, but now I'll have to go to the post office for things. It wouldn't be too bad, it's not far away, but my job is a 2hr round trip out of town so I don't get home each day until well after the post office closes. Which leaves Saturday mornings from 8am to 10:30am to get down there to pick everything up.

Amazon trucks don't come to my small town, so this deal with UPS kinda puts me out. I guess it was nice while it lasted.

That IS the real Smallville!

Yeah I saw an interview where someone made a good point about the possibility of Vance becoming the president if Trump were gone. Basically their premise is that, for whatever reason, Trump has that cult of personality around him. So people are attracted to him for some reason and that is why he gets away with so much bullshit and keeps on, keeping on. They made the point that Trump's "shine" doesn't really extend to anyone else. Look at most of his endorsements, they don't really pan out in elections that don't centre around him being president. Then also his numbers are historically terrible, yet for whatever reason he is Teflon enough to still somehow win.

The idea is that his "aura" or whatever isn't transferrable to Vance, or even his kids. So if Vance were to become President because Trump was gone he wouldn't have the same cult of personality that would allow him to push everyone around to get his way and blame everyone else when things go wrong. He also wouldn't get the benefit of the doubt that Trump does for all the money he seems to be leeching off for his own personal account. Then, of course, I wouldn't be surprised to see Congress finally get a spine if Vance was president instead.
