Four Horsemen Studios Mythic Legions

Guys, I hope you’re all sitting down, the Mythic Legions Video Game… is Dead

I know, I know, we all assumed two years of dead silence from an unknown company the Horsemen couldn’t wait to buddy up with meant things were going great and polished finished actually playable game was coming any day now, it would be another Silksong!

But alas the unthinkable has happened! The Horsemen chose to partner with an outside party who over promised and under delivered… how?!?! Usually they’re such great judges of character… (this post brought to you by “Mr Beast Labs X Four Horsemen Studios” where our slogan is “yeah we sent Jermey to talk about it at a panel and let them use our logo in the promotion, but it’s just work for hire!!! We don’t look into anything the people who give us money do!”)

But joking aside, it’s weird another Horsemen partner fuck up has lead to me getting access to a “digital art book” I didn’t pay for as an apology to those who got fleeced… and boy howdy does that art book deliver:
Low poly asset pack level designs! Awkward character renders! (IDK, when I hear “art book”
I expect pencil roughs and development sketches not unfinished renders of toys I already own… this does confirm my suspicions Dalhberg was the only Horsemen who could actually draw/make an original design though) and of course UI OVERLAYS!!! (Boy they really needed to pad this shit out)

Welp, another projection dead and buried! Hope everyone enjoyed those Male and Female Orc/Elf builders! I really like my Gorgo and Attalia 2.0! Sorry for the two people who actually wanted this game for some reason! I’m sure the Cosmic Legions comic and Mythic Legions D&D rulebook are where they figure this shit out though! They’re due for a win!

Although in all seriousness… is Sideshow the only reputable company they’ve partnered with? … what could Sideshow possibly want the Mythic Legions license except a long con like “hey, they steal from Blizzard, Wizards of the Coast, Pathfinder, even us (seriously- the skeleton queen with the broken face place is a Court of the Dead character!) we can license Mythic Legions for pennies and make all the Warcraft Orc statues we want!” Who is clamoring for a $500 statue of Bothar?!

Did anyone truly believe the game would be made?

By way of funny timing though, I did pick up the deluxe orcs from a couple of eBay sellers who clearly were liquidating their stuff just a few weeks ago and they filled out some gaps in my collection (I was able to pop unmasked heads on almost all my orcs!) so as a non-backer, I definitely got a little something out of it. I got the 2.0 Atilla and Gorgo bizarrely cheap last year, too. No way I was backing the game though - even if 4H didn't have such a bizarrely bad reputation for partnerships, kickstarting video games is a high risk endeavor.

I never backed the game. Only got the figures. I don’t really care about any of the media for this line. Just the figures. So i just kinda forgot about the game never materializing.

I mean.. I feel like 'LMAO' is pretty much the only correct response to all this. I genuinely feel bad for people that aren't 'inside' the industry enough to have seen this coming from three million miles away. I'm sure someone was legitimately excited for this game and that sucks.

Looking like we’ll be seeing this year’s graveyard offering next week based on Jermey’s teaser at the end of Mythic Conversations last night. It was another black and white graveyard so maybe we’re getting night of the living dead inspired black and white zombies? I’d rather they ditch the grayscale and do full color but at least the skeletons are passable as ashen bone.

So this is neither here nor there... Is 4H known for deleting critical feedback? Or is the fanbase cult-like?

Not a single comment on that Instagram post is negative.

"Looking forward to enjoying what is released on it!"

"... it’s unreasonable to expect people who got physical products to be refunded for what they did receive."

What in the boot-licking hell?

Not sure about whether they have a history of deleting negative feedback (I kinda think they do?) but their following CAN be that cult-like. I don't actually participate in any of their official/unofficial stuff because I don't love their hardcore fans, as much as I genuinely like a lot of their actual figures.

Yeah, their hardcore fans basically live in Cornboy's cornhole.

But I remember a criticism of their forums back in the day was that a lot of criticisms got deleted and also shouted down. It wouldn't surprise me if anyone with a negative opinion on their socials just knows better at this point than to even bother. Your comment is either going to get deleted, or cause you to get dogpiled by 50 sycophants hoping someone at 4H HQ will notice them and pat their head like a good little boy.

I was in the Facebook Cabal briefly.

Cultish and not using it lightly. Also aggressive to anyone who isn't licking the boot with the full tongue. Even questioning after market pricing was met with elitism and insults.

I ran into a few people at a toy show and they were equally insufferable. It's like Legions is their personality.

To be fair, Mezco also had this with Gomez for a while.

It's likely both.

I was kicked out of the facebook group years ago. I was told I wasn't a "real" fan because I said Megalopolis toys was bad news. (For some context, this was like a year or so after Jeremy picked me for their first featured fan blog post on their website.)
I still get their figures, but I politely declined a later invitation to come back as that level of crazy was not for me.

On the plus side, it made the decision to sell my test shot collection a lot easier.

I forgot about Megalopolis. What a shit show that was.

I skipped the kickstarter because I knew there was no way the game would be developed in a worthwhile fashion, but I do really like the heads they gave the orcs for the related figures. I should grab a pic--got the male orc super cheap and now I have a group of orcs who look like they're about to drop the most badass debut album of orc metal together.

(EDIT: Aw hell now I'm going to set them up with the Cold Slither instruments...)

So as someone who was out of the loop on this, they did deliver on the figures at some points or those still pending? I remember wanting the elves, but I just never did anything about it.
