All this talk of undead and Dracula had me pulling out my street-level mystic Marvel figures tonight to swap out some display figures. First thought - I know he's much maligned, but what in the Francis Ford F*ckery is this armor Dracula is kind of a lot of fun to put into action poses even if he's not the ideal Drac. (I've got a copy of the Monster Force Dracula en route I'm hoping will scratch that itch.)
But I'm also really not satisified with the Mobius iterations we've had so far. The last one is fun to pose but while I like a good open-mouthed biting vampire, I wish they gave swappable close-mouth heads for any version of him (y'know, like they did Dracula). Anyway I pulled both of them out to stick with a new Loosecollectors Vampirella on the shelf for a bit. Salem's almost here, right?
And then there's Blade, and am I nuts in thinking the older version of him is just way more fun? The coat on the more recent Blade is such a miserable thing, can't put his arms to the side, gets in the way of torso and leg movement... And again, only the screaming/biting head, no neutral expression. Meanwhile the older version is anemic on accessories, but I just totally stole new Blade's weapons for him and they look great. NO bitey head for him, but two non-bitey heads. The skin tone definitely doesn't match with the newer one but it's close enough that I fudged the mostly-not-bald version on that body and it doesn't look terrible! But I still like the older version better.
(Speaking of mystic Legends, I really wish I hadn't stored the reborn Elektra's spare head in with her sword. Those crazy curls stripped the silver off the sword! Easy to fix with a bit of Vallejo paint but still, dumb move on my part.)
