General Marvel Legends

I can't believe that I seriously think I want that Strong Guy figure. I remember getting the 5" one as a kid and he was such a weird shape and size that, just for variety's sake, he ended up out of the toy box a LOT, despite the fact that I don't care a single bit about the character. When I got the toy I don't even think I knew who the character even was.

Further proof that modern toy collecting (for me, at least) is like 90% nostalgia even if I keep telling myself I just collect the characters I like.

I didn’t get to see the alternate closed mouth head, I like that one a lot. Big space between his nose and frown, very reminiscent of Stroman or Quesada art. I was already in, but that’s a great bonus likeness.

He and Tusk became natural enemies in my toy box because they seemed like similar shapes and I knew next to nothing about Tusk. I only knew a little more about Strong Guy, which was basically that he was strong and in X-Factor which were like the X-Men, but not.

I loved Tusk because he was in the Genesis X-Men Game; Clone Wars. That's pretty much the extent of my Tusk knowledge as a kid, but it was good enough to see him as a Donkey Kong-level bruiser bad guy.
But yeah, it's weird how sometimes the most fun we had with action figures were the ones where their stories weren't already told for us. At least not that we were aware of.

I really love the closed mouth head for exactly the reasons you said. I'm excited to get Guido - curious now what kind of improvements they make to Havok and Polaris, and definitely expecting a new X-Factor Madrox soon.

I have a framed piece of 90's X-Factor page art hanging on my wall that I picked up at one of the first cons I attended, because I loved the X-Factor book so much as a child. That legacy virus storyline literally changed how I viewed comics, as a ~9 year old.

I grabbed the entire X-Men/Deadpool wave at Ollie's so I could build the Strong Guy BAF... and I sold the figures with his pieces removed. First and only time I've ever done a BAF.

I'll likely sell this one and pickup the new one because of the heads (the neutral one is fantastic), paint hits, thumbs up hand, and the bendable barbell can live in a lot of different displays.

I never picked up the Polaris and Havok 2-pack because frankly the faces seemed kinda ugly, I think that was before face printing. I'm hoping if the rumored leaks are true, that they are either completely new, or that they come in X-Men 97 iterations... I prefer the animated look vs the more realistic take Legends generally have. Which is why I like the neutral Strong Guy head. That's the kinda personality you find in comics.

Awww, what did the BAF Guido do to you? You worked so hard for him and he treated you well!

Kinda funny - the faces are my favorite part about that pack. Repainted Havok's cowl black to be a modern look and repainted Polaris into a full-bodied haired 90s Rogue. These were my first two customs during COVID, and opened the door to so many, many more...

I love that Polaris. Would be cool to get the cartoon version with less frizzy hair. But that was such a cool set at the time.

I always enjoyed that Havok suit. The Toy Biz one was so beefy and he had that plasma throw action.

Give me those torus effect pieces.

The Toy Biz Havok was one I could never track down. I'd see him on the back of the card and thought he looked cool (they always had that nice, matte, finish on the cards), but it wasn't meant to be. Which is kind of amusing because the classic Havok costume was infamous for being included in the portrait panel on the front of the cards despite not actually having a figure out. I know he eventually came out much later as a Toy Fare exclusive, if memory serves me right.

Guido is such a great character, that I'm a bit tempted to get this rerelease. I most likely won't, just because funds are tight at the moment, but I love that they are getting him back out there for folks who missed out on the BAF.

I kinda want all 3 heads for Strong Guy since he was one of the most emotive men in Marvel, but I don't know I want to buy him again--especially now that figures are getting more expensive and we see far fewer sales.

Yeah... the extra heads are tempting, but I don't know what I'd do with the second body since I only need one Guido on my X-Factor team. I wouldn"t mind popping one of the heads onto another body for one of his subsequent costume looks... but that torso and arms setup is so specific to that iteration of him I don't know that it would be useful for any other project

The Strong Guy deluxe figure screams of clearance. It was already released, anyone who wanted one could have got him on the secondary market for not much more than this will retail for. There was no reason for this to be made, period. Unless they just now start to under produce things, I can not imagine this will not be available for less than initially offered for. (Barring Tariff insanity.)

I also think that unless the production numbers are drastically lower and previous Deluxe releases, it will definitely reach clearance. Kindof a baffling choice for single release... but... here we are.
