Marvel Legends Maximum Series

You're paying for the options.
You are and everyone likes options, they're fun. I feel like it's option overload and much of it stands a good chance of never being used.
Those figures norm mentioned, Dr Strange, Black Widow, a few choice others, those are sweet spot figures, they are great. Three heads, a couple pairs of hands, two or three choices of accessories, I'm completely happy with that spread, and those figures were under $30. That's when the line is at its best.

I have no idea how their costing works, but Widow, Strange, and Warbird were also exclusives. Is that a factor, somehow.

I finally bit on Maximum Spidey and ordered it from BBTS but I definitely won't get Deadpool. I'd just be buying it for Doop.

Y'know, I was rearranging the shelf this week and I found that I don't even consider the Maximum Spidey my best Spidey. I thought I would. He's a great Spidey. But the last few releases before him I actually enjoy more. No regrets skipping Hulk. I would absolutely dive in without hesitation on a Maximum Doctor Strange but I also just haven't quite gotten the Strange I want. The Walmart one is CLOSE. The cartoon one is also close. I REALLY like the old one with no cloak. But I just haven't gotten the perfect one yet. I may say something that will get me banned from the Legends collecting, but I think I want a wired cloak Doctor Strange. Just one.

I really do think it's just him and Thor I NEED in this format.

I just think you need to add some nuance to the way you're looking at it. I would argue to you that the people complaining about 50 dollars for Maximum figures are the same people that have also complained about the various price hikes in regular Legends figures. It's not 'I'm okay with endless re-use and no accessories for 25, but not okay with more at 50.' It's more like 'I recognize the regular figures -already- are not a great value, and Maximum isn't adding enough value on top of the missing value to justify a doubling of the price.' You have to consider that.

I'd also push back on the perception that this is the only way we get this type of Deadpool figure. We have new bodies in Legends. It actually happens pretty often. What makes this Deadpool so special compared to just any other new body Marvel Legends figure on a regular card? Is Doop and a couple of extra hands a legitimate way to turn a 25 dollar item into a 50 dollar item? Only the buyer can really answer that. But I don't think it's out of line or overly negative for the answer from some people to just be 'no.'

X-Men '97 Cable is also entirely new, as far as I can tell. That figure is half the price of Deadpool. The major difference? No extra hands and no Doop. So again.. are the extra hands and Doop worth 25 dollars on their own? Up to every collector to decide for themselves. Value, in this sense, is very subjective. I'd pay 50 bucks if it were v2 Shatterstar with some extra hands and nicely painted swords and an effect part. But it would be like... me and 'berto and that's about it, I suspect.
Oh fuck no I would pay $50 for Capullo Shatterstar as well. And Cable for that matter. You are 1000% percent right about it being subjective where value is concerned - I am completely in because for one I put paramount value on artist/story specific figures and two, they made 3 excellent choices for me. If you didn't dig McFarlane's Spidey or you have enough Deadpools then I get it. Let's see where Year 2 goes- If a Maximum Wolverine drops I will probably be in the "not for me" group, but he will be others' dream figure (I'll go nuts for a deluxe with Weapon X tank though). I also think folks who are skeptical about pricepoints have valid critiques and a good % of them will buy anyway. I shouldn't begrudge that opinion so that's my bad; I just think it's the best Deadpool made and without a doubt the best Spidey from Todd's work.

As for your other points, partially agree. We don't really know what goes on with Disney/Hasbro. Yes I see plenty of new sculpts and even when I was out of Legends I always admired their continuous improvement for engineering and aesthetic. I LOVE the mini comic series - that Miles figure is so underrated and I love how the packaging is like a comic celebrating their first appearance. However there's a big difference between a new teen or Vulcan-sized body versus a body that's clearly meant to emulate McFarlane's distinct style or be a specific look with Deadpool with sculpted color breaks and details. Those things aren't so easily reused which is cooked into the price. If I lose those things which I consider to be the gems in my collection then my overall interest really plummets. If they put that exact Deadpool in a mini comic wave without the extras then I guess we all live happily! I just don't trust them enough for that, it's taken a long time to get here and I don't wanna go back.

As for '97 Cable yes he is 100% new and badass, but I feel MCU stuff (which those technically are) get more budget so not sure it's apples to apples. That's why I hope that cartoon runs a long long time. We'll see, if nothing else we got great stuff to enjoy and discussion here is good. I was also reacting to ragebait YouTuber videos but don't have the balls or patience for discourse there. So apologies if there was misdirected hostility. Let's see where Year 2 goes - but if they choose characters based on those who need effects like Iceman, Thor and Mr. FantasticI bet a lof of people will be enthusiastic like I am now.

They better not put another Sumbiote Spidey out on this body so soon. We just had 2. And the secret wars one is very new. Just gonna replace it already?

Symbiote is my favorite core Spidey look and even I'm a little burned out with versions. I like that we have scrawny, lean, beefy, and slimy versions of him already. (Though my "lean" version from Secret Wars I cannot, for the life of me, get the limbs and ankle hinges to loosen up on so he's kind of on my sh*tlist in favor of the slimy gamerverse version which has some of the smoothest ROM I've got in my collection.)

I think Hasbro knows it can't come out and devalue its new brand with quick reuse, especially if it's cheaper. We're getting a symbiote Spidey on that buck, the unsculpted in web lines are basically confirmation of that, it's just a matter of when. It will probably be a similar spread of accessories, but new optional forearms where the slime is coming over his arms or something and it will still be a 50 dollar release. I think it will be awhile before we see the Max body reused on a 25 dollar figure. They would be stupid not to do it eventually since the tools are there and people like it, but they know once they do they're setting a precedent for how soon people can expect to see the expensive figure become a cheaper figure. I wouldn't be surprised if we first see it in a Gamerverse two-pack where it prices out to not quite 50 bucks, but more than a standard release. Maybe they'll even do Hulk and Spidey for 100 bucks or something? If they value the brand and it's making them money they'll be protective of it to a certain degree.
