General Marvel Legends

When it was announced that DCUC was ending at retail and being replaced by an online subscription, I behaved pretty atrociously. I especially had some pretty ugly things to say about Mattel and a few of their employees.
I think we all did. That came out of nowhere. I remember just sitting there stunned on that Friday afternoon in 2011 after the Mattel DC panel just ended. “WTF just happened?!?” No one saw it coming.

Depending on who you talk to, either sales weren’t good, or sales were fine and Warner Bros pulled the plug because they wanted to push DC’s New 52 designs. I will personally always blame it on the “Rainbow Lanterns” wave. 😜

I mean I thought it sucked the way the line fizzled. Not sure what I could have done that was terrible other than typing; "man those rainbow lanterns suck" a few times in RTM or Fwoosh whichever I was using at the time.

So many forgotten (suppressed?) memories flooding back: the last panel, the thermometers, the rainbow wave. Apache Chief being shorter than Giganta. Tiny modern Poison Ivy. Batzarro as the last figure.
I still have my Top 10 wishlist from back then with classic Mera, Rima, Trickster, Heat Wave, Black Orchid, Sgt. Rock, classic Katana, Dawnstar, Bumblebee and Ragman with Granny Goodness as the BAF.
But for all of its highs and lows, at least we got a comic accurate classic Mantis... ;)

New Mysterio is interesting, but I'll probably pass. I'm perfectly happy with the last one and I don't think I need an animated series version.

I think the most memorable one was at the very end when they were selling Doomsday wrapped up in his green suit. The fans wanted standard Doomsday but the one guy who was running that s-show said straight-faced that they were not doing standard Doomsday and the fans better just buy wrapped up Doomsday, because after that, that's it, they're done. Everyone fell for the scare tactic. Then what do ya know! They made a standard Doomsday! Woooooooowwwwww!

DCUC was fine up until they pulled the stuff out of the stores and did online only. The greed and the drama went waaaaayyyyyy through the roof. No thank you.

I would've loved to have seen a classic costume Eric Needham Black Spider. :D

That whole DCUC thing brings up LOTS of bad memories and frustration. So many great characters left by the wayside. But ultimately, I’m glad we got as much of the fourth world as we did, as well as as the super friends characters. My childhood loves them.

Perfectly happy with the Guido I have, in fact it's probably my favorite BAF. Skeptical that I need this one, though the new heads and the barbell would be nice. Do we know if the yellows match so as to swap hands between versions? I don't really like the white emblem versus the yellow and red X. If anything I'll use the barbel for Colossus vis-a-vis the old ToyBiz figure he debuted as.

That’s a great Top 10 list! Mera and the Rogues were in my Top Ten as well. I also remember Johnny Thunder, the Thunderbolts, and the original Mr. Terrific being n there.

Sadly, the ABS plastic on some of my figures has become discolored, most notably Jay Garrick and the Spectre. I don’t know why. They’ve been kept in storage bins out of the light and in air conditioning since I got them.

My Metron and Light Ray have some pretty bad discoloring.

I'd have to dig up my old top 10, but I know Aztek, Zauriel, and Prometheus were definitely at the top. Probably some of that era's JSA too.
