X-Men '97

Didn't they play basketball in the 92 show also? I just don't remember the whole team being involved then. It's mostly baseball in the comics. Would be nice to see in 97 also.

I also remember an Uncanny Thanksgiving/November themed issue where Jean and Charles are waxing nostalgic inside while everyone else is playing football in the autumn splendor.

Romita Jr, I think. Damn. Just mentioning this to you, I can see a panel of Jean in my head. It's 4:40 a.m. I guess I'm going to dig the long boxes.

They did, in the episode Out of the Past. It was just Wolverine, Gambit, and Jubilee.

I think the Rouge/Gambit set would have been a much better choice as a SDCC exclusive than the Savage Land set. It’s something cool and different, but still fringe enough that anyone who wanted it could have probably gotten it without too much of a hassle when they went up on Pulse.

I found the X-men '97 purple suit Magneto at Ross today. Only six bucks. Chances are, there are others out there too.

I wish we had Ross stores around here. I don’t want that figure, but I’d pay 6 bucks just for the unmasked head.

That's the only figure that I skipped from the first 2 waves but I'd happily pick up for $6. It sounds like I need to plan a trip to Ross! However I rarely find any of the good stuff at mine. But it's better than Ollies for me, because we don't have one of those at all!

One of the things I liked about X-Men as a kid was that they felt like a family, having holidays and doing things like sports together. Everything wasn't always them in-fighting despite that it DID happen occasionally it wasn't the overall norm.

I can appreciate the Lobdell years for continuing that tradition during the time I was reading comics. Uncanny X-Men #325 was one of my favorites because it did have the typical X-Men action, but also had the character development for Wolverine, Storm etc. while the rest of those staying at the mansion at the time were playing baseball.

The $6 80's suit Magneto is a good deal. The extra head works with the 90s assault team 3pk male bodies to make a workable 90s Joseph for those that want one. Switch out the Forge cybernetic leg with the same leg from Gambit and you have a full training suit body with a skin-toned neck peg that fits that purple 97 Magneto head you have left over.

I ventured into Ross today only because it was next to Petco and I was already there.

At this point Ross and I are well past the "fool me once, fool me twice" saying. We are up to at least "fool me twelve times". Ross is Lucy holding the football and I am Charlie Brown. Every time I think that will be the time I find something and every time I leave disgusted.

UXM 325 was a favorite as a kid for exactly the reasons you said. I always loved the downtime between big events in comics, and the X-Men always seemed to do it best.

Stopped in Ross and found one Damion who wasn't there before. Maybe mine is five weeks behind the rest...

Also, they had 15 Wheeler Funko Pops from Captain Planet - did not know Captain Planet even had Funko Pops! Poor Wheeler...

I love that figure. Super underrated.

Honestly, I think it's what's missing from modern superhero comics. We need more downtime between beats. The three ongoing X-Men titles have been better about it, but I still want more.

The alt head from the AoA Magneto is also a good Joseph substitute. That's the one I was gonna use when I was debating on making one. But I'd have to buy the Forge and/or Gambit from the 375 box sets. I have them already, but I'm not using my only sets lol.

Was so excited when the Rogue team took the new kids to the mall. Of course, it sucked for them, but for a moment...

One of my favourite issues was Uncanny between Phalanx and Gen X. Sean and Emma took the kids to the mall for bonding, and that was it. That was the issue. Jubilee on the cover holding her bag, looking wistful about her change.

Man. That's why I loved X-Men. I always pitch it as a soap opera to people.
