Trying something new here. Who knows if it’ll catch on. I've posted this to IG and Tiktok, but thought I'd post here as well.

Toys, Tunes and beer. Tonight I picked a random figure from my stash, beer from my fridge and a new addition to my vinyl collection. Up first is @hasbro Marvel Legends Agatha Harkness. She is one of the more interesting post Endgame characters, especially after Agatha All Along. That didn’t translate to the figure though. It’s a glorified “traffic cone” figure. The possibility is limited by her hair, and sleeve sculpt. Facial likeness is alright, but could be a little better. The beer is “Not All That Glitters is Gold” from @treehousebrewco . It is one of their many double IPA offerings and I’ve had this in the past, but thought I’d pick it up again. I did buy it from the Saratoga location a couple of weeks ago, so there is some shelf life on it. It’s nice, slightly citrusy, and pulpy. Has some decent bitter at the end. The album needs no introduction. Siamese Dream by @smashingpumpkins . I’ve wanted to own it on vinyl since I started collecting. I found this copy at Walmart (shut up) last week. That opening drum beat always gets me. It grabs your attention so well, and suddenly you realize that “Luna” just ended and you have to start it all over again. It’s my youth in sound form.

Overall ratings. Figure 2:5. Beer 3.5:5. Album 5:5.

I think soft good would have been good and bad for her. Her outfit is so...flowy the cloth would just be wild. It's a lose/lose really.

True, unless they went with a heavier cloth.... or layers or something, but yeah that's getting things more complicated, and likely driving her into deluxe territory.

I had no idea Treehouse went as far as Saratoga. I live about 10 minutes away from their Tewksbury location and always enjoy having my limit of three beers and some pizza when I can get over there. I'd partake in the beer, tunes, and toys, but I've been a bit under the weather of late so I'm abstaining from alcohol for now, but perhaps another day.

I'm not a huge Smashing Pumpkins fan or anything, but I like their music. I just found out Billy Corgan is a shit about six months ago. What a bummer.

They just opened that location late last year. I've only been getting them on my annual trips to Boston (Paddy's Day/DKM) but now my fridge has been stocked pretty regularly. I have a good friend who is about the same aways from Tewks...he lives in Lawrence <ducks>.

Beer. Toys. Music.

I can acknowledge Smashing Pumpkins for their contributions to the era, but they were never a sound I loved. Corgan has believed his own hype since he first strummed a guitar.
I'm unfamiliar with Tree House, but as a shameless hop-head I'll try any IPA. The double gets tried twice because those are my rules.
I was one of the lucky few that scored an IBMMT custom head for comic Agatha. Traffic cone she is, but the new noggin makes it acceptable.

Billy Corgan is a stupid dipshit that bought a failing wrestling promotion and actively made it worse by being a mark for both himself, and shitty wrestlers. I wish him nothing but failure and I am forever grateful that I've always thought The Smashing Pumpkins fucking sucked.

This thread is reminding me that I haven't had a drink in like.... several months. I keep spending my money on toys instead of a good bottle of Scotch. I've also been itching to try this specific brand of mead, but it isn't super cheap to import it to Canada so I haven't done that yet either. Maybe soon, just for this thread.

Well, I wasn't aiming at THAT kind of reply...but discussion is discussion. I've been a fair-weather fan of SP since the 90s. Really only the hits have interested me. I knew Billy was off a bit, but not to that extent.

For my next installment, maybe I'll aim for something less controversial, like a Michael Jackson album...or better yet, one of Bill Cosby's stand up albums!

I'll admit I did not like his voice all through high school and my adult life, then their Christmas song was on the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special and... fawk. I kinda liked it. Goddamn you James Gunn.

Episode Two. Tonight I grabbed another figure from my vast stash, another double IPA, and a record I got about a month ago but haven’t had a chance to spin yet. Up first is the @starwars The Black Series Doctor Aphra. I didn’t get her on the first run, but grabbed her on the reissue. Great figure. Accessories are simple, but on point. I have her first appearance comic (an issue of Darth Vader) and some of her own run. She is easily the best “Disney” Star Wars character. The brew is @fidensbrewing “Fear is the Thief”. Fidens is one of my favorite breweries, hands down. They constantly put out dam near perfect beers. This is slightly earthy and citrusy all at the same time. 8% abv so you don’t need many. The record is @thedistillers “Sing Sing Death House” their second album. The entire album rips, but “City of Angels” is my favorite. Brody’s voice has so much range. Melodic to straight screaming. She is truly an underrated singer in the punk community.
