Star Wars TVC Discussion

Very nice. However it will be price, design and availability dependent for me. I have all the different Vipers released by Eaglemoss and those are fairly large, diecast and just plain beautiful. Not sure I am willing to spend the money on this kind of release.

The Republic Gunship is one of my favorite vehicles so a modern version was a nice surprise. Not sure I agree with the tiers on this one (Coleman was dead even before the Gunships landed) but new versions of cool looking Jedi are nice to get.

What the hell is happening?

I was checking the Snowcat thread and someone mentioned the numbers were dropping, so I jumped on to Haslab to see for myself and was punched in the eye sockets by the beautiful Republic Gunship Haslab I had not heard anything about.

Jump on to this thread to check out the reaction to the gunship and I'm visually assaulted again, this time with my first look at a 3.75 Colonial Viper! This is nuts. It's too much! My nerd heart is about to give out.

I thought the original Gunships were OK for scale - according to Hasbro these are about 20% bigger so probably more accurate, but not enough of an upgrade for me to back it. Hope it funds though.

I hadn't looked at the secondary market prices for the Gunships but they are higher than I would have guessed! In storage I think I have at least 3 or 4 different ones...(opened)

Started a thread in General Toys just for the BSG line and news as we get it...

That's an insane price. I wouldn't have wanted it at any price, but I do want the figures - not the trooper, but the Jedi! I don't think I own those three at all.

Oh well.

I would want it at a lot of prices. There's nothing I like more about the prequels than the ship designs, and the Republic Gunship is at the top of the list, along with ARC-170 and Republic Attack Cruiser/Venator Class Star Destroyer.

And this Haslab looks like a damn movie prop. Scale's a little off but it's pretty much perfect otherwise. Having said all that, not for one second have I considered backing it. This is gonna be pushing close to $500 once you factor in tax. Insane is right. It feels like it's at least $150 more than it should be. Maybe even $200. The pricing just seems way off.

As much as I like the gunship, I couldn't care less about the tiers. They're honestly kind of boring. I really think they could've done a better job there as well — but setting the price at $450 is so much of a non-starter for me I can't imagine there's a tier that would pull me in.

It's gonna be interesting to see how this goes. I would bet right now that it doesn't make it, but it's TVC and there's been a lot of success there. Even still, I just browsed through the comments on Rebelscum and there doesn't seem to be a lot of excitement over the choice.

A few people have posted their orders on Rebelscum and it's interesting to me that the "Haslab surcharge" is $34.99 for this while it's $29.99 for the Snowcat. Is there a little bit of a "Disney surcharge" in there, too?

It's their extra shipping fee, which can be skipped with a Pulse membership.

It's BS but a Pulse membership does pay for itself at a certain point.

Wondering what would be everyone's desired HasLabs at this point for the TVC line? Not going to talk prices, but what would be of most interest. For me:

1 - Sandcrawler - I'd be happy with one about the same height as the AT-ATs - technically too small but probably big enough. Add some unmade droids and a few Jawas...or a new Owen and Beru.
2 - Ewok Village - feel like this could be a fun one, with a few trees (think 24" high), platforms, bridges, some more Ewoks to fill in.
3 - Rancor Pit - would need a ceiling that could support the previously released throne room and the palace wall with frozen Han, maybe add a dungeon piece.
4 - Imperial Shuttle - probably the last major spaceship from the OT not yet made? But not really sure I need one.
5 - Death Star - an update of the vintage playset - honestly not sure if this could work, I wonder if they could do a series of Made to Order levels that you could stack (or not) for various spots - like the "bridge" with the conference room, Detention Block with trash compactor, hallways and chasm and so on, and of course Emperor's room.

I got the Disney Parks Sandcrawler a few years back so I’m good there. I was actually worried that was this year’s Haslab with that sand in the display case. I get the desire though and not everyone has or is satisfied with the existing ones. They could even cross sell it with the Mandalorian as we got to see a bit more of one in that early episode.

The Death Star is a tricky one. I think the upcoming Lego one for $1,000 is going to be very telling. Apparently it’s not spherical and is just interior scenes. I don’t think a TVC version would be much different. It’s not really going to work as a vehicle so I think I’d prefer individual diorama instead of a giant one with a mishmash of different scenes. Slowly releasing those individual instead.

I get the sense the Cantina didn’t do as well as they had hoped so I bet playsets are less likely than vehicles now. Of course with the Gunship struggling maybe vehicles will be second guessed now too. I’ve liked the idea of a not releasable at retail set of figures. Things like obscure background characters to Oola and Hutt Slayer Leia type characters. Fill in holes in scenes that only the die hards care about that would peg warm like a Lando at retail. Even if it was a dozen or so figures at $20+ each it would still be cheaper than many Haslabs.

finally my Target has some VTC
an army of Mando armor Stormtroopers
I'm hoping some will make it to clearance
I miss the days where having accessories didn't mean "deluxe" version
