Okay, so I've had my lizard dudes for a long time - those are the ones I backed during the KS. I love them. I've had lots of positive things to say about them. And really my one big complaint was the feet, and Harvinger fixed that with free new feet. Good stuff. Love it. But I was really viewing Savage Crucible as something ancillary to my existing toy collections. I didn't love the way the human proportions looked, so I was viewing this line from the perspective of 'what cool monsters can it give me?'
But the line being more about monsters also meant I didn't care about it all that much, as those things are just 'extras' for me, rather than a focus of my collection. I'm ALL ABOUT knights and barbarians, but again the weird proportions turned me off. I pre-ordered Nashorn but then cancelled that during the tariff nonsense because I didn't even want to think what BBTS was going to charge me for these guys in Canadian dollars.
I'm getting to the point; bear with me.
All the in-hand reviews had these figures looking a lot better than the earlier stuff we'd seen, so I grabbed not-Conan, Nashorn, and the Raider set just to check it all out. And my dudes, I am in trouble. This is what I wanted Mythic Legions to be; really good fantasy figures in the 1:12-1:10 scale, with modular parts and accessories.
Like I said, the lizards were very cool, but less of something I'm super interested in so I kind of glossed over how good of a -line- it could be, since I'd written off the humans at that point.
But nay nay... these are GREAT figures. My only complaint is that the ankles are a touch too lose in the one position that's actually useful. Fully extended down or toes-up? Solid as fuck. Flat-footed? JUST weak enough, and just enough movement, to make a figure fall over. It's annoying but not too hard to work around, either. Besides that, holy hell I love them. I -think- the only figures I've seen pull off two-handed sword poses this well were that first Classified Snake-Eyes, and a couple of the JoyToy Warhammer figures with the hinge-out shoulders.
The paint on these is honestly just as nice as typical Legions figures. Accessories look great. Extra parts are awesome. Modularity is very cool and kind of more than I expected even though I knew from the lizards that it was going to be really good. I was pretty blown away by how much fun I had posing these two figures around. notConan's wired fur cloak is awesome (just don't think too hard about how it stays on his body).
I think I might end up going pretty hard on this line. I am in trouble.
