G.I. Joe Classified Series

Y'know what's annoying? Target canceled my pick up order and it was out of stock, but now it's "limited stock". I was definitely the first one to order because I saw it go from 6 to 5 and it took a little while before another sold.

The Cobra Rattler arrived today. I'm astonished by the luck I had getting it so quickly because it usually feels like I'm one of the last to get these Haslab projects.

I gave you a begrudging like (hahaha). I am still waiting with no sign of movement in any form (no tracking, etc). Meanwhile a couple people I know in Toronto (same province as me, couple hours away) have their Rattlers already.....ugh I hate the waiting.

For a while it felt like this hobby was starting to become relaxing, but it's crazy again with resellers. Honestly, just such a silly hobby. Prices keep going up and they have no correlation to the worth of a figure, it's all supply vs demand. The same quality toy can go to Ross for $6 or sell on eBay for $90.
I've said this elsewhere, but, for my local collector economy:

When the Covid checks hit, everyone jumped in. My Facebook groups had lots of new faces navigating Mezco, how do get exclusives in Canada, the whole dance. Reselling in groups was instantaneous and you could easily clear $40 plus a loose Legends figure as people were building collections.

Then quarantine ended. A lot of them got out and went back to their prior world. But they tried to sell at what they had paid or more.

Buuuut, the support checks had stopped, jobs had been tumultuous, and as someone who sells a lot, I noticed the hobby economy (games, cards, comics, toys) was stuck in Quarantine Pricing, but nobody has Quarantine Money.

But people needed money, so they stuck to the pricing even when no one could pony up.

And then they go off US markets, action figure 411, eBay, none of which match the reality of Mezco or Mythic Legions demand and value if you're doing Pick Up Only in Toronto. It's a different scene. I adjust my prices and expectations accordingly, but even now, as the economy is bucked around thanks to our modern world, people are still valuing things at stupid prices, expecting you to pay the stupid price with no bargaining...

...all while trying to get me to come down to unreasonable pricing solo or bundled.

I'm sure there's a larger Capitalist analogy to be made from this snapshot.

Tldr: people are out of touch, out of time.

Same problem in my part of Canada: You can't buy anything locally because everyone wants "new, unopened, rare!" prices for a figure they found at the Dollar Store, and simultaneously you can't sell anything because no one is willing to pay 50% of the original retail price for a figure you bought new at the store 2 months ago and goes for triple price on eBay.

It's.... fuckin' wild.

Not terribly interesting but I'm blown away by how much cooler my Hisstank shelf looks now with a Stinger and HMS set. They really all look great together! Glad I picked up the HMS during the liquidation 10% off clearance fire sale, mostly just wanted the Tech Viper.

Sorry the photos are so close, the display is in a hallway.

That display looks amazing! I just got a Stinger on Prime Day. I need to try to copy you. Man that heavy Crimson BAT looks awesome, too.

Sometimes I'll order two of a figure from a. The internet stores because I want to get good paint jobs.

And then I will just flip the extra for cost, not even covering the shipping. I just want my money back, no profit, break even, help another collector out since these figures get harder and harder to grab.

Which then ends up with people offering me $20 for the sold out, where the hell are you going to buy it, X-23 two pack, or $10 for a Platinum McFarlane that isn't even out in most of the Continent.

Touch Grace, maidenless bros.

@altcunningham Going a little off topic but yeah - when I sold my MOTUC Castle Grayskull, I had -multiple SUB-100 DOLLAR- offers. And no, these people did not think it was the Origins one. I even had one guy tell my wife (she deals with a lot of our toy sales since I'm working) that we could either sell it to him for 85 dollars or enjoy sitting on it for the next year because no one around here buys this stuff.

This guy, for the record, was currently selling absolute garbage. I mean garbage; broken XBox controllers for '50 dollars - good for parts.' My brother in Christ, a refurbished controller at EB is 45 dollars.

G1074 - Apu (Sci-Fi)
G1076 - Sideshow Bob (Night Viper)
G1079 - Moe (Flash?)
G1080 - Mr Burns (Wet Suit?)
So either Flash and Night Viper have been pushed (second time for Night Viper) to 2026, or it was always Grim Viper. but apparently G1076 and G1079 are not Grim Viper and Mainframe. Maybe SDCC will clarify some, but looks like Sci-Fi, Grim Viper, Wet Suit, and Mainframe are the wave.

How do I contact that guy? Sounds like great deals....... :ROFLMAO:

Sounds just like the local Ottawa market. In the end eBay prices are for eBay. I use them to see how things are doing on the secondary market, but I don't expect to get those prices unless I sell on eBay. Which I don't anymore since they have blocked selling in other country currency (can't sell on eBay.com as a Canadian anymore), the tax/shipping hassles and the near universal favouring of buyers in any dispute.

I also avoid Facebook Marketplace and Kijiji. Because I don't use Facebook and Kijiji is the same problem of people wanting something for nothing. Most of my good deals lately have been on the longstanding boards in Canada (actionfigurenews.ca and cybertron.ca). The collectors on there understand the market, and while there are the odd collectors who try to nickel and dime you, for the most part deals can be made for good prices because we all know what is a deal, a steal, and a ripoff.

That and biting the bullet from time to time and getting a table at some toy show/con.

Finally got a chance to take a few pics of Darklon! I’ll put more photos in the dedicated thread for them.

I've been afraid to take the gear off Baroness for fear I won't get it back on properly, but every time I see her like that I want to get rid of the vest. Such a great figure.

Great. My Breaker who yesterday said "preparing" now says backorder. Are backorders usually filled at Target or is there a chance for cancellation?
