Star Wars Black Series

I don't think Enoch is supposed to be a Zombie? Not sure about the other trooper. At least I don't remember Enoch becoming a Zombie. Anyway, I canceled the single card one too. Maybe I'll get it if I see it on sale. But I don't need it and it never screamed "must have" to me. And I also have Enoch and the 2 pack.

I don't think we honestly know about Enoch, but it can probably be implied that there's something up with him. I know his mask is based on many things- Greek sculptures, Kabuki theater, etc., but some have compared it to a death mask. Plus the gold on his mask and the kinda crimson-y parts of his outfit are similar to the gold repaired armor and red wrappings of the troopers. But ultimately, the dude who's the captain of a guard full of zombies can't be fully normal himself, can he? Especially when magic is afoot with the troopers and with Marrok. Either way, I'm excited to learn more about him. Can't fault anyone for not liking the Night Troopers though; I think they're really cool- a way to work in more spooky elements without making a full-on horror movie. At the very least, I really appreciated the cool visual flair to distinguish them from the normal troopers. I'm keeping my pre-orders for now

He'll probably have lines in S2 of Ahsoka or the Mando movie if its about Thrawn.

I'd rather actors stay behind a mask forever if that's what the role calls for rather than constantly be unmasked just because they got a specific actor and they feel like they have to show them off. THAT is dumb.

I suppose there is that argument as well. Though I've never seen it, Urban in the Dredd movie is famous for not taking the helmet off. Din Djarin rarely took his helmet off, and that worked pretty well too.

I stand corrected. They also cast big names as droids all the time. That being said, they put a fuckton of design into Enoch for him to be Phasma'd. If any franchise has expertise in creating characters who get hyped and go nowhere it's Star Wars. That being said, having Wes Chatham say "yes sir" a few times feels like a bit of a waste of talent. Not like the TFA joke about Daniel Craig voicing one line for a stormtrooper, since they gave Wes a name and a very memorable design.

On the contrary, I think it takes a special kind of actor to be able to emote and create a likeable character while we never see their face. That's what makes voice acting, to me at least, so impressive- creating characters and conveying emotions with only your voice. As others have said, Star Wars definitely has a "looks cool, but does nothing" problem. With the Armorer, at least they've given her just enough character and mystery to be interesting outside of her looks. I'll always maintain that Phasma should've been TR-8R/FN-2199, the Stormtrooper that Finn fights on Takodana, rather than just some random trooper. Would've added more weight to their fight in TLJ, but alas, she was wasted. That's kinda what Marrok amounted to as well, even if he fits into the overall theme/plan of resurrecting the dead (assuming that's what he was and not just a weaponized fart cloud). Fingers crossed that Enoch will at least have a single cool, meaningful moment before he goes out.

I was gonna bring him up as an example of this very thing, but you put it better than the rant I felt like going on. :) HATED what they did/didn't do with that cool design.

I will die mad at how hyped Marrok got me for him to disappear like a literal fart in the wind.

Actually though, on the "awesome design, did nothing" list of characters, they do end up being badass action figures. Marrok's figure was one of my favorite of that year even if he was just a mook. Aurra Sing, Boba Fett for the first 25 years of his existence, Zam Wesell, pretty much all the bounty hunters from ESB, multiple entire cantinas of designs... EDIT: Adding Brutus to that list, and he actually GOT an arc, but I like his figure more than his story arc and his twin brother Gaius will carry on as a random pirate Shistavanen on my shelf.

I actually think the one live-action redemption of this was giving the Armorer more to do in the later seasons. She got more interesting relatively soon. A lot of other fan faves needed an animated series to bring them to life.

Actually, I was about to say "I bet we don't find out much about Enoch until an animated show handles it" but Ahsoka is Filoni's baby, and he was the showrunner for most of those other characters who got built out later, so if he stays on brand we may never see his face but we will at least find out why they gave him so much design love.

Classy save.

I admit he ended poorly before he came back REALLY strong... then stumbled and couldn't get back up. But if Lucas wasn't going through a divorce, Boba Fett was setting up to be a total badass.
