For those long time Fwooshers who remember the olden days of yore ...

What: Comic Con International: San Diego, the largest pop culture convention in the world!

Where: 111 Harbor Dr, San Diego, CA 92101

When: Thursday July 24th through Sunday July 27th, with Preview Night on Wednesday July 23rd

Why: Why not?

How: I have no idea. I just kinda go with it.

It's 6:10 Pacific Time as I type this, which means that exactly 30 days from now I will be down at the San Diego Convention Center taking pictures, soaking in the atmosphere and just generally geeking out. @Beamish will be there as well. We will both be at the Mavel Legends panel barring any acts of God, like Godzilla stomping ashore, a giant 100 foot tall Marshmallow Man strolling down 5th Avenue, the zombie apcalypse breaking out, Thanos snapping his fingers, or Marvel Legends getting cancelled. (That last one would be the worst.)

Go ahead and use this thread to post your SDCC wants, hopes, desires, expectations, fears and laundry lists. Bear in mind we're not going to starch your shirts.

Yay! The best thread has returned!

I do have to clarify that I'm planning on going, however there are some odd family things going on so I can't commit to going 100% and may not know until the week of, but as of now it's a yes.

Now that we have this glorious site that has direct messaging, for those who will be able to make it - LET'S MEET UP! It would be so much fun to put a face with a screen name.

Also, this is the place to submit your questions! Myself and others usually chat with our favorite Hasbro guys, so let us know which questions you may have! I always try to keep my questions light and fun, since they are bombarded with all sorts of stuff.

What do you think we'll see in the displays and at the Panel?

Funny bit of nostalgia from last year: when they got their card packs, they didn't open them until we told them there were actual cards inside

If I'm able to go I'll definitely be asking/chatting about:
-If they are aware of our new site!
-If the Avengers embargo has been lifted, and if so, where's the Mantis/Swordsman 2-pack?
-Horses and classic western characters.
-Timely characters.
-The future of BAF waves.
-What the cost out of a crazy color scheme character like Jack of Hearts or Captain Ultra would be compared to someone like Spitfire.

I will be there again this year. I will definitely be attending the Legends panel as always... - also the panels for all the lines I collect.

Hopefully I can secure all the exclusives I need on Preview night again this year so I can just concentrate on seeing all the cool stuff.

From SDCC 2013, two legends in the comic book industry: George Perez and Marv Wolfman.

Titans Together!

Joining us that year out on the bayfront were some familiar faces:

A blast from the past, when comics were amazing:

Marv will be joining us again this year which is super cool. Tragically, George passed away in 2022. He was the first comic book professional I ever talked to face to face back at the 1982 SDCC. He was the nicest man and so generous with his time. He loved being at the show and he loved the fans. The thing I will remember the most about him is he was always smiling and always happy. I miss that smile more than words can say. RIP to a true Titan.

I was thinking with the upcoming Marvel/DC crossover - who could bring a George Perez level of awesome to a project and I can't think of a modern equivalent. He was one of a kind.

Both comic book legends. "Tomb of Dracula" by Wolfman is top-notch. George Perez is easily one of the premier/best artists in the entire history of graphic storytelling.

I'm probably a broken record at this point but I'll never pass up the opportunity to praise Tomb of Dracula and Marv Wolfman (also, never has there been a more perfect name for writing horror comics).

I remember seeing Marv Wolfman at a table all by himself last year and just shooting the breeze with him. He was so nice and unassuming.

Agreed. My first thought was Phil Jimenez but I don't know if he qualifies as modern anymore. I think maybe Dan Mora might be a good pick for a big crossover with lots of characters. I'm always amazed at how prolific he is and I'm a fan of his art. Wouldn't mind seeming him give it the ol' college try.

I would lay as much of Tomb of Dracula's success at the feet of Gene Colan AND Tom Palmer as Wolfman. Probably more; but that is the way I approach comics in general.
