NECA - General Thread

I have an almost perfect memory for story beats and dialogue so I don't rewatch movies much because I can literally recall entire scenes in my head on a whim.
I am completely opposite. I can watch a movie monthly and it's like a new movie almost. I guess in a way that's good but I also worry about myself a bit, but this isn't an old age development. It's always been that way.

Not NECA, but Mondo just unveiled their 50th Anniversary Bruce figure. A lot more expensive, and seems to be about the same size (length-wise, at least) as NECA's offering, but I wonder if the slight stylization and overall bigger, bulkier appearance might scale any better with NECA's humans.

I forgot about the current Jaws convo and misread Josh's post as Bruce Lee--my head almost exploded thinking about a NECA Bruce (Lee). 🥴

Sorry about that, FM! I always forget that not everyone refers to ol' Sharky as "Bruce". I don't know if me talking about Bruce Lee's length is any better, but here we are.

Now that you mention it, though, I'd totally take a Bruce Lee Ultimate. And a Kill Bill vol. 1 Beatrix Ultimate. Aw, heck, now I've opened that can of worms.... 😅

Never seen the Terrifier movies, and from the sound of them, I probably never will, but I can't deny what an icon Art has become. I'll probably snag this one eventually- not from NECA directly, since they screwed me over with Ripley, but eventually.

I recommend them. If you're a horror fan, you'll love them. If you aren't into body horror, definitely don't watch, though. It gets pretty grotesque.

That said, they are good, fun horror movies and Art is pretty hilarious.

I don't need an Ultimate, but I probably will pick up a regular and Santa Art when they put the Toony Terrors out.

First I've seen of those other two figures, as far as reveals go.

I'm a big fan. They're definitely NOT for everyone though. It's odd, because I'm nowhere near a gore-hound when it comes to horror (though I rarely am bothered by it), but the over-the-top nature of the films appeal to me for some reason. I totally get why some don't care for the films...they are hyper-violent and downright sadistic at times, though balanced with humor and moments that seem like gory looney tunes.

To be honest though, I don't think I'd have become such a fan if it hadn't been for the introduction of the character of Sienna in the second film. Giving Art a nemesis changed the dynamic and made the series MUCH more interesting. When I saw the first film I liked it, but wasn't blown away. I saw potential for Art, but the film itself was really just a blood-and-guts fest. The second and third entries definitely gave us more of a story, and some characters to truly root for, especially Sienna. I'm REALLY hoping NECA at least does Sienna in her warrior angel costume from the second flick...to me she is almost as iconic as Art himself! I know they have a bloodied Art and the Little Pale Girl from part 2, so there is hope!

A fun game to play is, because they have a quicker turn around time to make Plush Phunnies, look at what licenses KidRobot is putting out and you can guess what NECA will be revealing in 3 to 4 months.

ALF, Wednesday, What We Do In the Shadows, Art the Clown, The Grabber, and Baby Face Killer all had stuffed animals well before NECA revealed anything.

And while it’s not a 1 to 1 license sharing guarantee (NECA for example doesn’t make Sonic, HelloKitty, or Mickey Mouse products) I’m fairly certain we can expect an “I Know What You Did Last Summer” Fisherman reveal in the near future too since his plushie was just announced!

Has NECA ever discussed the possibility of getting victims from the Friday the 13th franchise. At the very least, the lead survivor from several of the movies would be nice.

Well aren't you the sleuth! I've never even though about that but it makes so much sense.
