Marvel Action Photo Thread

Not quite as fancy as others, but I try. These are pretty old. I haven't had time to "play" in a while.

Despite giving myself a headache struggling to put the castle Extreme Set together last night, I had enough fun with it I'm gonna break out one of the others tonight. Debating between getting some new Daredevil pics or some sci-fi stuff. Funny discovery - have a raised board I kickstarted years ago for D&D, a flat surface that sits on legs a few inches off the table so folks can game and have room for their food and drinks, and it turns out it's a perfect size for one Extreme Set setup and I can swap figures out stashed under the platform.

The ridiculous stuff we do for our hobbies, right?

Hey! I think I backed the same one, The Level Up. That's a good idea. I think I'll do the same with mine since I'll almost never use it otherwise.

That's the one! I actually use it every week to this day - whenI DM online I put a physical map down and use a "battle cam" so the Level Up gives me a perfectly flat surface to pop the maps onto. Ironically I backed it pre-pandemic when I had visions of using it at in person games so we could have our coffee and beer on the table too, but it's been WEIRDLY useful for online games too. Gonna use it for more action figure pics tonight after work.

Longtime ML collector and always wanted to get into photography? Any pointers for a complete newbie???
I agree with docsilence. If I could easily manipulate one thing, it would be lighting. Other than actually crafting some of my own dios, lighting takes the most time. Phone cameras are fine, but a cheap point-and-shoot with adjustable f-stop and shutter speed makes it a lot more fun. That let's you more easily highlight specific fields of vision.
The aspect with the lowest barrier to entry in the hobby is probably diorama making. Cardboard, glue, and cheap paint are all you need to start. There are a lot of techniques that you can really only learn by making a ton of crappy mistakes. YouTube tutorials can help get you started.
These are only my barely experienced opinions, though.
