Star Wars Black Series

On the Slave-1 conversation, it shows how sideways I tend to think about things because I actually never thought the Slave-1 was named that because of slavery. I understood it to be a computing/engineering reference. His ship is literally 'slaved' to him, like a system in engineering that responds to a master control.
Now, of course, that terminology has fallen out of favor because of its implications for human beings. So even if that was the original intent, the reality is that Disney was still always going to have to change the name.

My biggest complaint is that they seem to have put ZERO effort into actually renaming the ship.

Slave was named by an ILM contest, I thought. I can't source it, though. I thought I read that in Star Wars Insider in the '90s.

Anyway, they refer to it as the slave one in the Bounty Hunter Wars comics, but they also refer to it as a fire spray way back in 2005 in some of the novels and encyclopedia materials. I remember that when I was doing research for my RPG.

And you can also punch in the word slave on Star Wars.com and get a bunch of returns about slavery and slave characters, so I don't think there was any sort of progressive, malicious intent to destroy childhood.

I think if a kid wants to buy Boba Fett's ship you just call it that on the models and toys because that's easy for people to find.

I never knew that? Jesus... Was this contest exclusive to Alabama?

I don't know when Firespray was thought up, but I remember in tech manuals and such in the 90s had it as Firespray Class.

And the other thing with BOBF, with Mandalorian being all about throwing all the action figures into it... Why couldn't they bring back at least some, if not all, the other hunters from ESB? AT LEAST Dengar and Bossk. Both were at Jabba's Palace.
OK, *this* I agree with.

I know Dave loooooooooooves his signature characters, but I’d have preferred Fett have a showdown with established ESB hunters rather than play out a cartoon rivalry.
I do like Cad Bane, though.
But yes one of the things I do wish BoBF had done was eschew Filoni-isms in favor of OT characters.

I still loved it, though.

Now this I could go for. I know we've gotten some appearances elsewhere from some of them- Dengar and Bossk were in Clone Wars, and while I don't know if we've gotten true IG-88 action, I more or less consider IG-11/12 a fair display of what he'd be capable of. Same, more or less with 1-JAC being a good show off for 4-LOM, but have we ever gotten a Zuckuss display in current canon? I don't read the comics, so perhaps there, but nothing in animation or anything, right? I've always been curious about that little weirdo.

If nothing else, I'd love a "Tales" explanation showing why the hell Dengar went from his human self to whatever that plastic surgery monstrosity in TROS is. Unless they retconned that and made him someone else?

BOBF would have been a good spot to flashback on Bane giving his helmet the dent that got left out of CW. I was very surprised they didn't do that. But I also really wanted the show to present a few other periods of Boba's life, and I don't mean yet ANOTHER glimpse of little Boba watching Jango's ship.

The Tales of the Bounty Hunters book was one of my favorite Star Wars books, even though the Fett story was the boring one to me. But I like Boba to be about more than holding a grudge against Han. But the Bossk was pretty god, Dengar was good, IG-88 was interesting, and the Zuckuss/4LOM one was one of my favorite Star wars stories ever.

.... If you must.

Yes!

YES. And I hated that they made him some weird evangelical prude, like I’m glad he didn’t SA Leia but bleh.

Indeed. Don’t care about a Han/Boba rivalry at all, it was just a job, man.

IG-88 was interesting
lol he downloaded his brain into Death Star II. I laughed so hard and almost didn’t keep reading because that was so lame.
