General Marvel Legends

EOV still ticks me off. I did want it, but it was obviously way overpriced and reeked of Hasbro thinking we would pay whatever they want to charge us for Legends products. The tiers were nonsensical and the final Mephisto reveal when there was absolutely zero chance of his tier being met was almost cruel.

So where are we at with this era of X-Men and New Mutants?

What do we still need in figure form to complete these teams?

And let's not forget Erik.

Depends on how much you want to fudge and how specific you're being. I believe that's Mutant Massacre era (ish) X-Men and for them I think we're only missing that particular Rogue and Rachel. I don't recall the specific Colossus costume depicted there, but I know for the era where everyone else is in those outfits he's mostly wearing his classic duds.

Obviously we do now have a version of that Magneto, but it's the 97 version so, depends on whether or not you're ok with that stylization.

The issue with anything like the EoV for me is space. Where to put it. I just dont have the shelf space

That was the thing that initially held me back from ordering, but when I realized I could mount it to the wall to look like it was driving vertically I was in.

I would happily buy a stripped down ersion with no lights and sounds to do that with if it came in priced close to the GI Joe vamp at like $120... it would be an easy purchase.

Really need Hasbro to help me purge the rest of my older questionable figures. Yellowjacket, modern She-Hulk, and even classic Black Cat are starting to become eye-sores on the shelf.

I feel like every day that goes by makes the EoV less relevant. Is Robbie Reyes even featured heavily in the comics anymore? He was one of those niche, “let’s make a character involved with Popular Stuff Happening Now (the F&F franchise” characters that seems incredibly dated after the “Popular Stuff” isn’t exactly “Happening Now” anymore.
This is actually an aspect of comics that I really like, how they absorb and reflect back trends of the era they're written in. Sometimes the characters that are "of the moment" adapt and grow beyond their niche (Dazzler and Punisher come to mind) while others are just truly a flash in the pan. So I like it from a historical perspective, but I can see how one would bristle seeing trends of *right now* showing up in new characters. No one wants the next big Marvel superhero to be an influencer.

I always forget the connection between Robbie and Fast & Furious (though I certainly don't deny it). I haven't seen an FF movie since 2 Fast 2 Furious (amazing name) but I am a big fan of Robbie. It does feel like he's in that moment now where he could be dropped and forgotten, but I think he's made enough of an impression - and is distinct enough as his own version of Ghost Rider - that he'll stick around.

I was just going through my Hulk shelf and trying to pair it down, especially with the new stuff coming. I've clearly held on to some older figures even after better update ... and I still really like the old TB Joe Fix it... even though I have two better versions.

Sincerely I think it's basically Fantasticar in first place easily. Then Quinjet specifically this one (though even it would be hard in ML scale):

And then everything else is either a distant third or is simply too large (Blackbird) to be viable. I sincerely think Fantasticar and Quinjet are the only Marvel vehicles larger than bikes that would ever have a chance to sell, and of the two the Fantasticar is the only one I'd bet production time on if I ran Hasbro.
I once figured out the dimensions of this at 1:12 scale and printed out a flat copy to see how big it would be. And even scaled down it would be HUGE. Even moreso if it's made to fit five figures in the cockpit like an actual Quinjet. So as much as I'd love to have one of these classic comic Quinjets, I don't think it's realistic.

I think Robbie is a win for Marvel in a lot of ways, despite being an 'of the moment' character.
A big one is that while he's conceptually of a certain time, one thing that has NOT gone out of fashion yet in comics is representation. There's a lot of value, especially in this political moment, to a Mexican-American superhero. Even if the 'Fast' franchise isn't newsworthy anymore.
They also made a smart call by giving Robbie the classic muscle car instead of the amped up fuckin' Nissan or whateverthefuck. Those classic cars just remain more evocative and have already proven they're basically timeless rather than 'oh yeah, I remember when those were cool' that might have been the case with a different type of car.
And finally, it's a Ghost Rider. There's already a history of more, and very different, types of GR. It's easy to slot him into the mythology and just make him a character that's part of something rather than being a character that necessarily has to stand on his own merits. Not that Robbie -can't- do that, but it's way easier for him leaning into an established multi-character mythology. That Race in Hell thing basically cemented Robbie is a fuckin' LEGIT Ghost Rider and I think he's basically inextricable from the rest of the GR mythology at this point.

That sounds cool to see. Did you save any pics of the printed file?

Oh yeah, even this one they'd have to modify heavily, that's why I said even it would be hard. But the shape of it at least means you can fudge easier than some. The way I imagined you'd do it is similar to the old 90's Star Trek TNG Shuttlecraft where it's basically a hollow shape with seats inside. It would still be very large, but probably wouldn't need to be any bigger than the Rattler, which I'm thinking of as the upper bound size wise.

In terms of scale, I think the Fantasticar is the only one you might be able to get 1-to-1, depending on version. The best option there is probably the big bathtub version, and that you can already find folks online selling 3d print versions that aren't too ridiculous.

Two late points -
The MTO Sentinel didn't collect payment until it was ready to ship, so I wonder if a lot of people ordered and then cancelled some or part of their order. In addition to the tariffs, Hasbro might have gone with the price increase in hopes of having folks not cancel.

They might have a hit a perfect storm - increased cost due to tariffs, people reducing their orders/spending, and maybe they overproduced extras for in stock. And suddenly they went from having an extra 2,000 they projected to sell at the initial price to that plus 3,000 cancelations and the accountants saying they needed to raise the price per unit to something that made it harder to sell at a time people were being hit with higher costs all around.

As for vehicles, the Fantsticar and Punisher van are the only obvious ones that would have a lot of support. I think the Hellcharger is the Giant Man compared to the Galactus or Sentinel - it can do well but isn't going to set records.

Among the many issues with the Engine of Vengeance was not having it come out after they had given us new Blaze and Ketch GRs, so it would have been completing the GR group not starting it. If we had those two in hand plus the horse version, and the campaign gave us Reyes and then King of Hell Blaze, Mephisto and a throne as tiers, it funds.

Even Legends single releases are littered with figures you can tell the team really gambled on in terms of how popular they would become. Maybe not so much the individual characters, most of the Legends we have are either timeless classics or newer characters that hung around. There have been a lot of Spider-Man releases based on "huge" comic moments that ended up falling flat, and so the figure was equally received. Looking at you Red Goblin and New Symbiote Spider-Man.
