Selling Toys - Horror Stories & "Happy" Customers

"Hi, is this available? What is the size of the figure in inches please"

I'm gonna hope it's just some casual parent.

Anyone else seeing shipping taking longer and longer?

Ordered a few things I shouldn't have from Mercari and it. is. soooooo. sloooooooowww.

UPS just didn't move a package for four days - the delivery date was already eight days away from the drop-off date (which took forever) and ended up getting delivered two days after that date. Now, USPS is just "moving through facilities" two other boxes - one of which was supposed to be delivered today and is now tomorrow.

WTF is going on? This is all US domestic shipping.

But the good news is sales have picked up again. Some really random, low-dollar items - two of which basically cost me money to sell. But at least they are out of my house! Sucks when shipping goes insane but the listings have been up so long the prices reflect last year's reality and I didn't notice.

You're not kidding. I got a shipping notice today from Gamestop... shipped today (4/23) from Texas to Iowa via FedEx and FedEx already has possession, but is expected to arrive May 6? Huh? It's less than 700 miles but needs two weeks? I didn't realize that we'd reverted back to the Pony Express method.

Most of the shipping companies routinely beat the initial delivery date estimate by a day or two for me, still.

It’s the opposite for me, Fed Ex is constantly over estimating themselves and it usually takes a few days longer than their original estimate, which they don’t bother updating until after the date passes despite it being clear something on the other side of the county isn’t making it here by the end of the day.

USPS is the quickest for me, they always estimate things for like a week out and then I get them in three or four days.

My Kitty set came from Pulse.

They "shipped it" April 9. Hasbro Left the Building mail. For international, they use DHL, not the fastest, but...

It hadn't moved until yesterday. GA to NJ. Usually it's from IL or NJ, so GA is new to me from Pulse. End goal is Toronto.

Says May 6th. That's obscene any way I cut it.

People are so interesting. Well that's not true, as an autistic, if you're not on this forum, I probably find them really boring with the small talk and banal imaginations and thinking.

Psychology and capitalism and marketing, anyway.

So Hasbro f***** up and sent me multiple two packs and told me to keep 'em.Their bad.

These retail 72 at EB, 69 on every other Canadian trailer, that's pre-shipping, and most people aren't addicts like me with an Onyx 15% card at EB.

Regardless, my thinking is they were free, so I'll just list them for $50 to get them out of here and get some free cash towards other toys that are hitting. I'm getting paid, everyone else is getting a nice Canadian discount.

Nope. The amount of attitude, accusations, and inquisition I get as to why I'm even selling it, and then at that price.

All right, fuckers. $70 then.

"I'll come tonight."

??????

People are suspicious of free. When I worked at Starbucks we'd have training days for the new drinks so we'd all know how to make them correctly. Trying to give those drinks away for free to our regulars was met with deep skepticism and suspicion.

I just handed you a drink - why would this one be poison?

So weird.

Mailed a 4oz figure today and the price shot up to $5.97. I'd charged $5.75 and that was with a 20 cent buffer from the previous lowest USPS price of $5.52. That's a huge increase and now I have to go update all my listings.

Also - bought a lot of figures from an asshole on Mercari who upped the price while I was confirming what was included. Ended up buying them when he sent an offer which put it back to the original price but he didn't include what we had talked about and he said he had. I sent a message asking where they were and he immediately started name calling and insulting me and calling me a child, all with horrible spelling and grammar.

Mercari of course actively did nothing to help me - they ordered me to send photos of what I had received even though I told them the issue was that I had NOT received items - so they won't be in any photos. Ugh.

I had a pilfered Amazon bag once, and they also wanted pictures of the item.

So I just took a shot of the inside of the bag and several angles of my empty counter, sarcastically obeying all photography rules of framing and proportion.

Got the refund.
