Quitting/putting collecting on pause

Probably true, though Charizard next to the T-800 next to Invincible hurts my brain.
I'm no good at that type of display either. Like, I see someone with a 'Nintendo' shelf and it's all different styles and scales and I think that's wonderful and awesome and that if I had to see it every day instead of in one single post, I'd gouge my own eyes out with a rusty pair of tweezers.

I hated myself a little bit when I really settled into this way of collecting. Having to sit and say 'okay, which of these Marvel Legends figures only exists in my collection because of a different figure, but that I don't care about on its own - which figures, if every other figure were destroyed in a fire, would I still keep and which ones would I say 'well I guess I don't need this anymore either?'
Because those latter ones... you don't even actually like them. So why do you have them.
I’m putting myself to the test by passing on Marrina and Box. I wasn’t that long ago that I would have bought the entire wave because I “needed them” to complete Alpha Flight, not because I truly wanted them.

Godspeed!

It really is harder than an 'outsider' to the hobby could probably ever understand to NOT buy a toy that your brain says is important 'to the collection' even if it's not important to you personally.

$40 Canuck for the new Legends wave. BAF fee, but still.

Mando and Grogu was 51 when I saw it.

I get 15% off at EB but even then, my bullshit meter is hitting mask and snorkel.

And this is a big reason I mostly got out and just buy occasional figures now. Canadian prices on action figures are -literally- insulting at this point.

I almost impulse bought the Mando and Grogu set when I saw it at Target a couple weeks ago. Then I checked the price and happily put it back.

Same. I saw it at EB and literally laughed out loud. I didn't even mean to. Like, I wasn't gesturing at it and ironically laughing hoping someone would pay attention - not that kind of laughing out loud. Like, I picked it up, saw the sticker, and just GUFFAWED at the pure insanity of thinking that thing is worth that price.
I'm doing that more and more these days.

Looking at the new Legends Wave today and I thought I'd be in for Psylocke, but I went to preorder and just... didn't. She's cool, seems like a pretty good render o the character... but I think being in this thread has been good because I had the active thought of "are you just getting her because she completes some set" and it reminded me not to be a completionist. And with that, none of what they showed is stuff I need on my pull list. Now I go back to randomly looking at other stuff on there that I am still excited for.

I grabbed Psylocke because if I'm going to have one version of the character in my collection, it's that one.

It is weird to replace a very good figure (Gamerverse Psylocke) with a mediocre one.

For me I just realized I don't have much connection to Betsy specifically. No shade to the character, but not one of my core X-people y'know?

My connection is that Jim Lee poolside poster.

Ya know. That one.

Imagine if they did a multi-pack of that poster.

Yeah but that is EBGames' new price point. Seems they are trying to match the others with the Edge discount factored in. It will be interesting to see what happens when the Edge program ends in November. Will they replace it with something else to give some discount still, or will they just suffer with the stupid pricing like TRU did before the end?

I'll wait to see what Amazon.ca has them up for since I can't seem to find them yet. However I think the prices will still be in the $36-$37 range, for now.
