S.H. Figuarts Marvel Figures

After having Cyke for a couple of weeks now, I do find I like him quite a bit. Do I $100 like him? That's a harder question to answer. My main complaint is the lack of waist articulation. Do I wish he scaled better with Legends? Sure, but it's not the figure's fault that Hasbro uses its own scale. I do find I like how he looks with Storm Arena, and putting all of my "Gamerverse" figures together for this pic was pretty damn satisfying.

Showing painted weblines on the box art is crazy work.

I'm still planning to cancel my pre-order, but I'd like to see a reviewer I trust put it through its paces. The articulation does not look promising enough to keep me interested.

Somebody on Reddit posted this, which I found fascinating:

It's so close to looking great.

I can't wait to see the people that spend the money, put the time in to Gundam marker all the webs, add a wash, put the money or time into another third party. peg like Cyclops to fix articulation, and then tell us that's all you need to do to make it a banger after spending retail on it.

I do think the crotch isn't an issue in any of those cool poses, but I know a lot of people like vanilla.

I think I’ll keep mine but I won’t alter it. I’ll just set it next to my SHF Scarlet Spider and be done with it

Still very much on the fence with Spidey. It does things I normally hate with Spider-Man figs like the sculpted web lines, but I like the silhouette and love the portraits. It will come down to how it poses. SHF Scarlet Spider doesn't pose well enough, but I can overlook it because the presentation is so fantastic. Cyclops should pose better, but for a Cyclops it poses enough. Spider-Man doesn't get that luxury and the presentation isn't so good that it compensate for articulation shortcomings. Especially not at $100.

Given Cyclops' height, they bungled it.

If you're confused about the scale difference between the first and third pictures, he says in the comments that the first photo is accurate. The SHF figure is behind Maximum Spidey in the third shot.

So that puts the height of the MvC Spidey at around 6.3”. Same size as Scarlet Spider. I can breathe a sigh of relief now

Maybe I should buy another and mod one into the sensational Spider-Man costume. Unless it’s more prudent to hold off for now and see if Bandai makes one themselves or some enterprising customizer to make one themselves and decides to throw it up on eBay

First review I've seen for Spider-Man. It is auto-dubbed, so you might want to just mute it as it can get annoying. A lot of the articulation looks really good, but just like Scarlet Spider, they have that fill piece in the lower back for forward crunches that prevents the waist from rotating. Such a stupid, forced, error. I think I hate these sculpted-in web lines though that have zero paint and seem to lack shading as well. I'm out. Too expensive for such a compromised release.

The Bandai way.

"We're S.H. Figuarts! You buy our shit for the name brand recognition only! We haven't put effort into our shit since 2013, and you STILL buy us. Now give us your monies, little fat girl!"

It looks to have worse range than the eight-year-old MAFEX figure. Between that, the crotch nightmare, and the unpainted weblines, I canceled my pre-order. I'd rather have the Maximum figure in those colors, which I'm sure we'll get soon.

I think we can throw Mafex and figma in there as well. I’m brand loyal to a fault, but I’m finally beginning to realize that the gap in overall quality between domestic and Japanese brands is rapidly narrowing while the gap in price is rapidly widening.

Unfortunately, I ordered through Amazon Japan and they won’t let me cancel. (Most preorders on Amazon Japan can’t be canceled after placed.). I shoukd be able to easily make my money back once the stock dries up, thoigh.

Sure, to a point. I don't particularly like the big hinge in the abs Legends goes for. I think the ab crunch on this figure is fine, it's the lack of a waist twist I find irritating.
