Marvel Legends Maximum Series

Amazon bumped Max Hulk to Monday. Will get to feel him in hand myself. Haven’t bothered with video reviews, I just don’t care for them.

I usually skip the reviews, but was looking for reasons to buy. I wasn't convinced. That shoulder articulation still seems very inelegant and a complete misuse of an overlay or whatever you want to call it.
The torso material looks like it might be softer and more flexible than the material Storm uses, but I'm just going by a video, watching some guy "knead" Hulk's pecs with his fingers.

Mine is bumped to Tuesday from Amazon. Still kind of meh about this figure.

After realizing I must've missed the boat on initial shipments for Maximum Spider-Man with my BBTS pre-order, I caught him back in stock at Amazon this week. I'm still a bit bitter toward the price, most of the accessories are useless to me. BUT this is my favorite look for Pete & he really has all of the articulation the character deserves, so I don't regret the purchase at all.

The third Maximum release might provide a clearer picture of what the brand is. Spidey out of the gate is basically a brand new figure with a touch more articulation that usual and a bunch of accessories. Hulk is basically a reuse figure with a gimmick and a little more paint than usual. Will a Max Deadpool just be a mostly reused figure that just comes with everything but the kitchen sink? I could see that being the case. I think they said this line is just comic characters, right? If MCU were on the table, I could see a Max Deadpool being the place where a Ryan Reynolds head is finally included as a selling point, but I think it's strictly comics. I do agree there appears to be little need for an ultimate Deadpool release, but the rationale is there for the figure to be a strong performer and that's all the decision makers at Hasbro probably care about. And if it works, the figure could practically be re-released as a Max Punisher with just minor tweaking.

They said "classic versions" so we can assume comic versions, but they weren't quite that explicit I don't think. I could see an MCU Iron Man fitting under that umbrella. Has there been a leak that the third one is a Deadpool or is that just speculation? There's a lot of characters I'd hope for first.

After seeing that the Max Hulk's ship date had moved up at Amazon I panic-cancelled. Just not ready to drop $60 on a figure I'm only marginally interested in. I'm one who would only want to display him with the thunderclap pose and I'm concerned about leaving the overlay in that position forever. Outside of that he just doesn't hold any value to me. I may still pick him up later if he goes on sale or if I'm in a figure buying drought and need to soothe the habit but for now, I'm back to a no.

THe 80th Head doesn't seem to match well with the MAX Hulk. I cancelled as soon as I saw the video from Tuggernaut. Those Max heads offend me.

I used to watch Anthony's Customs videos because it used to seem like he at least tried to be objective, but he's become such a hater that I can't stomach watching him anymore. The only stuff he seems to like is import figures of IPs that I have absolutely zero interest it. I don't care at all if a figure is good if it's of characters that I've never even heard of or am entirely apathetic to. For me buying figures is 100% about the characters that I know and love.

I understand pointing out flaws and nitpicking as we all do that, but when you have more bad to say than good, just move on and stop even discussing the product. Too many YouTube "influencers" now are so negative that I don't even know why they bother. Do something you actually like. Then they call people that try to be a little more positive and balanced "shills." Ridiculous. If you hate it so much, do something different with your time.

Every so often, you run into someone who has made "negative contrarian" their personality. That's Anthony. I find him genuinely unpleasant to listen to. When I'm forced to watch one of his reviews, I cringe in anticipation of the next overly critical line.

He makes some good points, but they're drowned out by his need to nitpick everything. Half the time, it has no merit.

I don't know how he could derive any joy from this hobby.

I still can’t get on the “internet video review” train. Too much “personality”. Pictures and (succinct) text only for me.

But I guess I’m gonna find out tomorrow since my Amazon Max Hulk ALSO shipped and will be here tomorrow.
