Preorders have popped up today at all of the usual places. $24.99 at BBTS. $19.99 Amazon. Mumm-Ra is more expensive.

Thanks for the head's up on this. I can't explain why but the designs on these really do it for me - they just look FUN. I'm particularly entertained by the Battle Cat.

Battle Cat is my favorite one! Such a cool figure.
I do fully admit though, stick the Battle Cat color scheme on any cat-like action figure and it becomes my favorite.

I honestly think I'll have more fun setting these up than the handful of Super7 Thundercats I have already. They're more toy-ish.

Came in here to post about these. The BBTS listings are also the first time I’ve seen promo images of the ‘Cats as the ‘Cats, that is, without all their Eternia gear. They look good enough, certainly in style with both Origins and Cartoon collection. Yes, Skeletor is expensive, but at $25 each, they all are. What are you gonna do though? Either pass or eat it. I’ll eat it. I love having different licenses in the same style. These properties are meant for each other.

Licenses in the same style is why I'm loving these. Being able to set up Thundercats, Turtles, and regular old MOTU in one place fitting together in a unified style? Glorious.

Preview of Wave 2. I really appreciate that they don't mess around with character selection - getting the big four Thundercats knocked out in two waves is awesome. (Wonder if there's a fourth figure in Wave 2 and who it might be. Assuming a villain, yeah?)

I would say the style here diverges WAY further than anything else in the origins type group. The figures are VERY lanky. Once I saw a side picture of Cheetara and the very strange proportions of her legs and Hips, I think I may be completely out instead of just cherry picking all the other MOTU stuff that has been releasing.

I'm weirdly excited to have ThunderCats figures in the Origins style that can hang out with my Cartoon Collection figures. I don't want to call it a stroke of genius because literally any toy collector would have called them absolute idiots if they DIDN'T make this call; but I will say it's super good and makes me happy that they didn't saddle these figures with ONLY being able to have their MOTU looks, like some of the wrestling figures and all of the Turtles in this style.

Hopefully I can actually find these. I'd really like to have He-Man and the main TC cast.

It was also another stroke of genius to give the Thundercats swappable armour so that you can get them in their original looks.

Up here (Canada) they are only at etailers right now, but maybe Amazon.ca will get them as well. Nowhere else will probably get them in Canada. I have preordered the whole first wave. I have given up being even remotely a completist on all other lines (except Classified), so this will probably be another line for me to go all in on for now. Hopefully it can go as long as Turtles of Grayskull.

I'm curious to see how many waves this goes. Knocking out the big 4 Thundercats in 2 waves makes more waves questionable. Will they make the kittens? They'd need different bodies. As would Slythe. Curious if they tackle the Mutants. Certainly, they'll make a variant of Lion-O to anchor a wave. I don't think they'd go through the trouble of starting a new line and only make 2 waves, but I am intrigued by what a potential wave 3 (and beyond) looks like.

I donno if this line will take off in the same way that the TMNT crossover did. I personally would be satisfied with just the main ‘Cats. I think the Mutants/Evil Warriors are conspicuously absent, but I’m not sure how well they’ll sell if they’re just wearing Eternian armor. Will they mash up with each other the same way Skeletor/Mumm-Ra do? Beast Man/Jackalman or Beast Man/Monkian? Whiplash/Slythe? I just don’t know if this has the same following as the other MotU crossovers.

I think TMNT fans probably outnumber Thundercats fans 10 to 1 if I were to guess. So I don't think it'll have nearly the popularity ToG had.

Certainly TMNT is way beyond Thundercats for fanbase and sales force. One thing to consider with the TMNT crossover is they had to make the characters mashups or at least not look too much like a normal version. Hence why you can't trim down the turtles to be default, non-MOTU versions. The license for TMNT wouldn't allow it (likely Playmates restricting them or causing a fuss about it).

For Thundercats, they can allow for the TCats characters to be somewhat default in their looks with Eternian garb they can remove. I think it's a selling point to this crossover. So if the Mutants essentially look like themselves but have some Eternian bits which can be removed, all the better. I think that'll result in more people willing to buy them as opposed to being stuck as some fusion looks.

Obviously the TMNT will have better sales numbers than this crossover, but there could be a decent number of people wanting the Thundercats who just haven't had modestly priced toys in quite some time. I'm sure a number of people are priced out of the Ultimates and may not even realize those exist, but they may see these on shelves and be intrigued. Granted, I'm not even sure this line is guaranteed to be at mass retail.

So a couple of things.

First, I was watching a Mega Jay Retro video about the first two waves and something he pointed out that I didn't notice before was Panthro's arms. Here is a link to some pics:

https://toynewsi.com/241-57329

So what the hell is up with those arms? They are so long that his hands go to his knees!!! He looks terrible and I hope it is a mistake that will be caught and changed. Someone in the Mega Jay Retro video said it kind of looked like he could be reused for Alluro. Maybe it has something to do with his Eternian Armour pieces and fitting on his arm?

Second I like that they have a lore to work with (Third Eternia?)

Third, I am not liking the look of the Eternian armour for wave 2. In the diorama pic with everyone against Skell-Ra it looks like night and day between wave 1 and wave 2. Lion-O, Cheetara and Battle Cat Man look good with their armour. Panthro, Tygra and He-Man look better without the armour.

Finally I do hope this line goes on for a couple more waves because I think Mattel and the MOTU team are not afraid to create new molds when needed. I mean they did a lot with TOG. Yeah they got mold reuse wherever they could, even if it was just partial reuse. However they also weren't afraid to get a lot of new parts into the offerings and I could see the same happening with this line if it is successful enough.
