Marvel Legends Gamerverse

Yes, X-Men legends 1 & 2 were centered around the Ultimate X-Men. I think I still have one of those games on the GameCube but I never played around with it too much.

Man, I totally forgot about those because of the emphasis on games from our childhood. Did I make that emphasis or was that the Dwight quote.

Because I was definitely in college.

X-Men Legends 1 & 2 are two of my favorite video games ever. LOVED those games. Lots of great costume skins in those games, too.
Still have my PC discs.

I remember it blew my mind that Storm could weld the ship hull with her lightning.

And Jean actually had proper telekinesis picking up and throwing things. Why are we in 2025 and we still don't have games that improved upon Jean Grey and Psi Ops TK? No wonder the AAA industry is garbage. There was such messy experimentation in the PS2 era. When's the last time we even had a cel shaded game, relevant because this one was.

Both of those games were love letters. Bringing Magma in as the POV character in the first. Unlocking those flashback levels. The sheer amount of lore they tied together to make it feel just like the soap opera roots.

Yup. Agree with every part of this. Except PC discs. I do not have those. I had the games on PS2 and they're long gone now.
It's actually crazy to me that we never got an X-Men Legends 3 on PS3 or even PS4. Those games were beloved, you'd think they'd want to franchise that shit like they do everything else.

They did do Marvel Ultimate Alliance and then post that I would guess it got caught up in the whole “Let’s not push X-Men because we can’t make movies about them,” stuff.

I was also a huge X-Men Legends 1 & 2 fan. I also absolutely loved the first two Marvel Ultimate Alliance games. About a year ago I bought MUA 3 for Switch, and it was just so different than I remember the other games and I got very little joy out of it. I was really surprised how uninspired I was to play MUA3, when I know for a fact I'd play the hell out of the other games still if I could get my hands on them.

I think the term “youth” in this case is a relative term.

Most of the era of Marvel games from Activision started when I was in a freshman in high school . The Capcom games and the LJN titles before them were definitely closer to my childhood. I’m almost wondering what they can do to make any of the games from the LJN era that would even be worth it? Maximum Carnage and Separation Anxiety? We already have symbiotes out of the Wazoo. But I guess it’s a good enough excuse to get an other doppelgänger spidey, cloak, dagger, Firestorm and finally Carrion.

Wolverine: Adamantium Rage? We already plenty of tiger stripe wolverines out there wazoo. Same goes for the X-Men games from the genesis, unless that could potentially lead to brood figures back in circulation?

If anything the only thing I want from more Gamerverse figures are based on dedicated, stylistic character models and I feel like the games that came out during the Activision era when the graphics were more polished than what came before. I would take high polygonal/potato graphic looking figures vs pixelated, cel shaded deco any day.

I'm pretty sure I still have those XMen games on ps2 discs. Just not sure where they are. I may have them on og Xbox as well, but again, not sure where they are. And none of them are bc and I don't have a ps2 to play them anymore lol.

The UA games are bc, and I think you can still buy them on the Xbox store. If not and you have the 360 discs you can play them on XB X. I don't think you can get the dlcs for them anymore though, at least the 2nd one. I think most digital versions of the 1st one have them built in, but not sure.

The black suit Wolverine with the yellow stripes that came out recently I believe could work as a stand in for him in those games. But the rest of the team could be cool too. Definitely never got a Magma figure.

Also, something nifty I remember from playing the 2nd one. If your inventory was full, like your storage and such, then the game would start crashing in some levels. Something about bogging down the memory. It never got fixed, cause there weren't dlc or patches back then, at least like there are now, but I played them on all 3 consoles back in the day and it happened on all 3. Also, iirc, those XMen games have some sort of copyright or something that prevents them from actually rereleasing them. The UA games also had some sort of issues and could only be sold digitally for short durations and then pulled from the store, until recently I believe. I don't know if that was settled or not. Or if the XMen was either. But, since they haven't rereleased most of the XMen games from before UA that I remember, its probably still a no go. There were 2 games on the Genesis that were fun as hell. And I think Super Nintendo had at least 1. They did release the SF v XMen and anything past that from that line in a collection, and multiple times in different ways. But like, all the other ones, the side scrollers and Legends games just never got redone. The Arcade game did get rereleased years and years ago on the 360 I believe, but its also not bc and you can't buy it anymore since that console is obsolete, and its not on the XB store last I checked.

I vaguely remember something about UA3, but I don't have a switch and since there wasn't any fanfare I guess it either didn't do well, or was garbage. Or both.

Alright so I did the kitbash of the Punishers - and the resulting classic Punisher is incredible. I'll post my Instagram pic of it tomorrow.

Now that I have 2 Fury's floating around with that stupid cigar mouth head, I actually took some toothpicks, cut them, and colored them with a sharpie. Total game changer for that head. It looks much better than I thought it would - kudos to the sculptor there for sneaking that in.

I.

It definitely could. He doesn’t have the Whaler styled beard with the soul patch but that costume will definitely work. For a time it was known as the “Unified” costume because Wolverine wore it in Ultimate X-Men, X-Men Evolution and X-treme X-Men. I think he wore this costume on occasion in the solo Wolverine book by Greg Rucka. But depending on the medium there would be a few key differences separating them all, (i.e. the style of his pants, the belt design, Logan’s hairstyle or the color of the uniform.)

Made one of those toothpick cigars I've heard so much about for my Fury. It was so easy I'm gonna make some for my other cigar-chomping figures. Also, this set is great.

I played this game in the arcade a lot when I was a kid, and this year it got released on the Switch and I was finally able to beat it without sacrificing too many quarters.

Speaking of games, I played the Marvel Tōkon Beta last night and it is absolutely fantastic. I hope we get figures for it, especially Storm and Ghost Rider.
