HIYA TOYS Godzilla

I did buy S7's melty zombie Godzilla, but none of the others. Their design philosophy generally doesn't appeal to me. And I'm not really into their particular types of variants anyways (the ones based on old toys and the like). I know most of the stuff I mentioned is not likely to ever get done, but it's kind of fun to anticipate it anyways as long as the line isn't canceled. :)

Ghidorah is looking amazing, I hope Gundamit will start shipping them out soon. And the Heat Ray variant of 1991 Godzi as well.

Yeah I was really hoping the heat ray variant of the 91 would hit by now but maybe the eye paint issue on the 91 is causing slight delays? Maybe we won’t see that till July or August?

Man I was hoping the Godzilla 91 would arrive to today but nope. It still in its final sorting but good news is that it’s pretty much at the big shipping hub in town so should be here by tomorrow

SHMA never did the pre-Godzilla from Minus One, right? I hope Hiya does when they eventually get to that movie.

No the only Godzillasaurus from Minus one we ever saw was from Bandai’s movie monster series in the 6” vinyls and I believe X-Plus is doing one? Maybe we might get one from Spiral Studio too. They just teased a whole bunch of new models from their Legacy line of statues

Well, I officially preordered the Heat Ray Hokkaido from BBTS. I've been a huge Godzilla fan for so long but I haven't ever had a good figure of him and Hiya seems to be offering good stuff for a reasonable price. Now I gotta get that set of mini Maser Canons and Super X toys so he's got soemthing to fight when he arrives.

It's almost certainly too much to hope for, but I really want a Gigan Rex from somebody and I'm crossing my fingers that Hiya decides to be that company. I'd take classic Gigan too. Love that space chicken.

The super X set sounds fun but just be aware that technically from a canonical standpoint. The 1991 Godzilla never faced off against the Super-X due to the whole time travel thing. It’s not the same Godzilla that attacked in 84 because that was the Godzilla that got blasted with radioactivity on Lagos island in 1944 had the futurians not intervened and then it would have gone on to destroy Tokyo in the 50’s and again in the 80’s.

Due to the futurians involvement, the Godzillasaurus was moved from Lagos Island to another corner of the South China Sea, where it was spared from the initial blast of radiation after world war 2 but bathed in deposits of radioactive material thanks to illegal dumping of nuclear waste so a second Godzilla (or technically 3rd) was born and its first appearance was in 1991

In other news though I got my Godzilla 91 figure yesterday and I love this guy. But I did feel the need to touch up the paint to make it look more film accurate so I restored the dusty browns on his body in a faint dry brushing and darkened the eyes so they are more of that hazelnut/walnut brown color. Gotta say I love this figure through. The sculpt is and likeness is on point and the articulation is perfect. I haven’t had a single joint fall off on me once. And the articulation in the tail!! Omg the engineering in this tail is marvelous!! I think full stop I’m dropping SHMA and I’m sticking with Hiya from here on in

NEEEERRRRRRDDDDDD!

But yeah, I totally know. I've got not one, but two separate Godzilla posters in my room at home. One a replica of the American original movie one-sheet, and then a wall scroll of Ohrai's Biollante art. Trust, I'm deep into that Godzilla life. The 91 Godzilla is close enough to the 84 design, it's the same Godzilla era anyway. Besides, Godzilla's had multiple full tilt reboots, cameos, crossovers, and time travel plots. I have no problems mixing and matching that pantheon in my displays.

Fair enough. I just bought a second hiya 91 to pair with my Monsterverse 2014 version because I need something to replicate the 2014 video game so I shouldn’t talk

Nice!

Yeah, I feel like if it's basically the same design, or a refined version of the same design, it can stand in as the same Godzilla in my mind's eye. And who's to say we didn't miss a recommissioning (or, I suppose, new timeline commissioning) of the Super-X at some point and it just got trashed between movies. Or maybe the Super-X or this Godzilla are temporal dupes from aborted timelines that somehow get sucked into a new timeline together. I've been reading X-Men comics for years, I can make this work.

Yeah it’s similar enough that sometimes it’s hard to tell if the video game version is based on the 89 suit or the 91. But I’ll leave it alone for awhile and display it as is but if I get inspired I might repaint it into the Dark Horse Comics version
