The Major arrived.
Might be the best one ever. I really like the SAC Figma. I think that one is a little more ripped from the screen.
However, this one has slightly better articulation. It's your standard action figure, but it has the ball waist and chest. Nice hidden butterfly. Above average range.
My favorite piece is copied from the figma which is the two-handed pistol grip. Just makes things so much easier and clean. The pistol is kind of a b**** to get in but the hands are rubbery.
Plastic overall feels good. Only concern points would be the rubbery boots that go over the ankle articulation and the jacket. If they don't deteriorate, that's great. The jacket feels tailored especially for her. Nice texture. It's got real metal rivets for the buttons and they give you extras in case they pop off. And it has buttons everywhere you'd expect. I have this jacket somewhere in my closet. It is so tailored, I don't want to try it on any other figures.
You can see from the scale photos how she's in her own 112 proportions and category.
The paint is perfect. The faces are clean.
What I don't like: the cyberpunk unit that goes over her head is a harder plastic, and it's too snug. It fits but the tolerance feels a little too much. Two of the heads have a little strand of hair flying out that gets in the way. I would be worried about chipping or even breaking it. The other head does not have that hair and would fit on better but I saw elsewhere that someone scuffed up the hair so I'm just not even going to bother.
And the other thing I don't like is the thigh swivel doesn't appear to be totally centered. I know it's always a problem with those joints that you break the form, but there's just something slightly off about how it's sitting on the right leg. No sane person would notice but I do in certain poses.
Was it worth the 150 Canadian it took to get from Japan to me?
Yes. I love the anime in all forms and I have wanted this character as much as I ever wanted a Spider-Man or Wolverine. I think it's definitely in the top two versions of her ever made. I've only messed with Hiya for the Dredd line and based off that this exceeds my expectation in engineering, quality, and execution. For the record, I liked that line.
Is it worth 100 plus to you? I don't think I would impulse buy it if you didn't like the property. I think it's a bit much for a looks cool pickup. It is a gigantic box and while the figure is packed with everything I would want for the character, it was also a lot of dead space.
The other cool part is the stand. You get two. One of them has storage and it's deep enough to fit the alternate heads and everything. Love that for me.
I think Hiya did a great job, and I look forward to more.
Now to source a spider tank.
