Ghostbusters General Thread

Different browsers. The only difference I can think of is that I clicked over the product page from within the email they send out when I was on my laptop, and when I was at work I just went to mondoshop.com and found it manually.

I went directly to mondoshop.com and found it manually and there was a tariff applied. I don't think I got an email to try and click and test that theory though.

I just re-tried the email thing and got the tariff anyways. I think it just glitched? Hopefully not to the point that they cancel on me at the last minute...

Do you have a VPN at home? I just set mine to Canada even though I have an American address that pops up in Shop Pay and it didn't put the tariff on.

I should, but I don't. I saw one person in the comments on preternia's tweet about the pre-orders who said the same thing about not having the surcharge, but that's as far as I've looked into it.

I also don't get charged tax, but I never have at Mondo. I assume it's to do with how much business they do in my state, wasn't there a minimum sales volume or something involved with all that?

I can't decide if I want to contact Mondo about this tariff thing. I'm a little worried it's gonna auto-cancel at some point when it's too late for me to still get an order in...

Definitely worth waiting to PO Winston from another retailer, if you aren't getting the 2-Pack, to skip the tariff fee. Most are pay later.

That book looks really cool! Might actually pick it up. Thanks for sharing, I hadn't seen it.

My wife and I grabbed two of the 1:1 Spirit proton packs when they went on clearance last November, so we'll be dressing up as Ghostbusters this year for Halloween. Looks like GB will be the fall theme in my household.

I know their job is to sell these figures, but one of the Mondo guys made a really good point in their recent livestream. They emphasized that there are companies out there would would have sold the smaller pack-in figures separately and for full price. Definitely thinking Super 7 and Snarf/Snarfer here and even Grogu in the Black Series. I'm sure there are others, but if you think of it that way, $101 for the Ghostbuster and pack-in ghost isn't as bad as it originally seems. Especially if you think of what Super 7 charged for Snarf.

To be fair, Snarf has Multiple heads, at least half of the articulation of a full figure, and interchangeable hands and a tail..... Should he have been the same price as a regular figure? No, but those mini ghosts will have minimal articulation, as cool as they look.

Man, I really keep coming close to buying these. I really just want the individual Ghostbusters releases at the $101 price point. But i just haven't pulled the trigger yet. I'm trying not to buy them I guess. I have the majority of the vintage RGB Kenner collection, and I try and tell myself that's good enough. I also have the Diamond Select Real Ghostbusters.

But.......these look really good.

You could probably pay off a big portion of these new ones by selling the DST Ghostbusters if you wanted to do that.

Fair enough. But Grogu still applies I think. Going back to MOTUC the Loo-Kee/Kowl set was sold for the price of a full figure and they were tiny and 5 POA or less. I don't think the pack in ghosts are worth half of the $101 but even if you figure it out around $25 each and the Ghostbusters at $76 it feels like an easier pill to swallow.

I've already preordered the Egon and Peter deluxe sets without performing those mental gymnastics but just something to think about for everyone that is having a hard time getting over the price.

That's true. I might do that. Didn't Mondo recently say that the first figure, Venkman wouldn't be shipping now until later? I know it was supposed to ship this month. And I know some folks have been sent early figures to review. But it seemed like I read Mondo said Venkman wouldn't ship to everyone else until like mid-July or August.

is that correct?
