General Marvel Legends

I want a Toybiz Snap-Shot Spider-Man.

Random thoughts......
Is it expensive on the secondary? I haven't even thought of that figure in many years. Was he basically the first super-articulated 'ML' Spider-Man or was there one before that?

I just sold my Snap Shot Spider-Men. I think I had 4, including one MOC. I don't miss it as the Amazing Friends 3 pack Spider-Man scratches that classic itch.

It fetches a pretty penny on the eBay sold listings, not easy to come by, has a strong Romita vibe. The were many "super articulated" Spideys before that in the Spider-Man Classics line, I have the FIRST, first one already.

Damn. I bet you sold your Spider-Hulk too.....

Ahh yeah, Snap Shot and Sinister Six set Spideys did the double-tap of Romitas Sr and Jr. Loooooove those figures.

See this is what blows about having most of my stuff boxed up: I have those figures but I’d have to dig around to get to them.

I can tell myself that, but if I'd honestly rather rewatch an entire 10-season show than watch that one movie in the six years it's been out... maybe I don't really want to watch that movie very much at all. And realistically, my life only has so many hours left in it and I want to be honest with myself about how I'll spend those hours. Probably not watching that movie. So why is it taking up valuable real estate on a fairly full hard drive?
I'm getting better at picking these out. There are definitely movies I know I will watch, but I just haven't gotten to yet. Usually it's because I know I need to be int he right mood to receive them. This weekend was actually one of those times. I finally hit Picnic at Hanging Rock and Christine and had a good time with both (actually liked Christine a LOT more than I'd expected to). But if I'd watched them a few months ago they probably wouldn't have worked as well on me. I wasn't in the right headspace.

Oh no no. That i kept. Until Hasbro makes one.

I just can't with some of those old Toy Biz figures. A couple guys in Robo's Discord server champion the Toy Biz Spider-Man figures. For me, they're a sign of how far we've come. The proportions are shocking.
I think a lot of my anxiety over collecting too much is space related. I live in an apartment, and while I have some space, I don't want to feel crowded by my things. I'd love to say I'll have a house someday and expand, but it's hard to see that future right now. I'm only just now getting to have real savings. A house feels at least a decade away, and I'll be in my 50s then.
Condo.

A condo a few blocks from my house just sold for half the price of my house. It's nearly the same square footage.

Before I bought the house, I rented a privately owned condo, so I understand the pros and cons of condo living. If you can afford it, it's worth it to buy so you aren't jerked around by your landlord and have a fixed monthly payment.

Agreed. I was more into the DC Direct stuff because, though the articulation was way more limited, they actually looked the business sometimes. I could never get past the look of those other Toy Biz ones.

Honestly never occurred to me but I suppose might be worth looking into. I've spent so much of my life so far from even fantasizing about home ownership I barely know where to start.

Also, though I'm not getting any younger, I'm averse to setting down even semi-permanent roots in this state. I've lived here all my life, but I'd rather not die in Texas.

A condo was my starter home and I enjoyed it quite a bit. You do have to deal with a management company and neighbors, but it’s the same as apartment living in that respect. It was cheap compared to a home, but I know even those units I lived in flirt with 300k these days which is insane to me. I think I paid 160 and that was 15 years ago.

I’m one of the weird exceptions to this rule. I don’t maintain a display. I found doing so to be tedious. I’m much happier just pulling out my bins on a regular basis and going through them when I want to see my figures, although I will have a few on my nightstand at any given time. At the moment, I have the Inhumans out.
This is me. I pull them out of bins to take to work for my desk, on my end table at home when reading/watching TV or posing for pictures. I am a good boy and put my toys away when done playing with them!

Apart from dusting, I love having things on display because I'm a fiddler. I like to move things around from time-to-time, swap out accessories, and just plain change things up. Only problem is I never do it as much as I want to or think I will, but I try. I even kind of welcome the challenge of fitting new figures into a display that's already pretty jam-packed. I somehow always seem to find a way, but I know with certain ones I'm not going to be able to do so anymore (toon TMNT, those damn sixth scale Mondo X-Men..) and that's when the real challenge begins.

All I'm saying is that by the time you have the space that you want, you might find that completely different things become an obstacle. Enjoy your collection when you can, however you can!
Absolutely this. Like you I plan to work until 70 at least but likely until I am no longer breathing. I am in the financial services sector and can do the job from a wheelchair if needed. I enjoy helping people. Life though sometimes has other plans. I lost my Dad at 63 when I was 30, A niece at 17 brother in law and my sister at 59 and 61 respectively. Mom though made it to 92. I plan for tomorrow but don't live for it. I enjoy everyday to the best of my ability since no guarantees on the future. I have my first grandchild arriving in 2 months and can't wait to share this hobby with him God willing. You blink and all of a sudden it's 20 or 30 years later. Enjoy what you have now!

I prefer to keep my entire collection on display, dust-free, safely contained in 3 hardwood-and-glass display units in my den/office.
But then again, I also strive to strictly collect classic 616 Marvel Legends for the most part, so it's much more manageable than were I to let my inner Gollum free to... "Collect 'em all". (Said in my best Gollum voice)
