Just received the wolf and the bear from this kickstarter. Removed the bear from the packaging and started testing his joints and noticed the black wash on his fur is sticky and dying my fingers black. Not good...

I sincerely didn't realize that kickstarter was successful. The paint issue, womp womp, that's not a good sign at all.

Did anyone else back this? Did you experience this issue? Hoping mine was a freak anomaly.

I forgot this KS ever happened, to be honest. I remember wanting these pretty bad but being less and less impressed by them the more I looked. Sorry to hear it may not have worked out for you, bat. Definitely worth dropping them an email or something to see if they'll make the situation right.
While I thought the figures didn't really look as good as they needed to, the creator seemed enthusiastic so I'd be surprised if they don't care about any issues the figures end up with. Now it's all about how they resolve those issues.

Thank you. I reached out and he was gracious, said he'd followup with the factory. Asked him if others reported similar paint issue but didn't hear back. Was able to glue the kneecap, don't much mind about that, but the tacky paint... man, I'm not really sure what can be done about that. Might just need to live with it or try to strip it and reseal.

Fortunately I didn't go heavy on these. Just bought two. Like you, I wasn't 100% sold on these but like to throw in a pledge for a figure or two for 1:12 kickstarters I perceive as struggling to cross the finish line. Other than the paint issue, I'm pleasantly surprised by them in hand. They move well and are innovative, achieving various objectives in ways I've not seen before (e.g. shoulder pads and hands on ball joints; mid-gun swivel to facilitate 2 handed holding).

I got my rwo figures from this kickstarter... I had also forgotten it existed and forgot I had ordered figures, so was surprised when they showed up. I got the wolf and the shark and had no issues at all with tacky paint. I did find it impossible to remove the standard head on either one to try and use the armored head option that was included with each. I can't say they are tremendous... but I don't hate them either.

For my own personal reasons I do wish they were closer to a 7 inch scale than the strict 6 inches they came in at... but I've decided to use them as guards for High Evolutionary and call it a day..

Great to hear that you had no paint issues. I also heard back from the KS creator. There were 2 others that reported the paint issue so maybe there was a bad batch but it doesn't appear to be widespread. That's good for me, and great for him, as I imagine it would be ddvastating to realize a dream to produce your own figures only to have something go wrong across the board. He's offered to exchange the tacky figures so all is good.

That's awesome news, bat. Not that he had a bad batch, but that it's not, probably, going to be any great burden to the creator and that he can make you whole at the same time.

I saw these in stock at BBTS over the weekend and decided to grab the wolf and bear. The 2 with the fur sculpt looked better than the lion and shark with the smooth skin and odd proportions (in the shark's case).
They arrived early this afternoon.

They included a note about potential stuck knees that might need to be heated up first, but since mine spent time in a FedEx truck in 80 degree heat, that wasn't an issue.

I remember why I didn't back this KS. Bodies are too lanky to really be a Battle Beasts line. The wolf is passable. But the bear looks like someone in cosplay or the bear has near starved to death. Thanks for posting the pics, though.

Yeah.. I love the idea but I just don't think these look like good toys. Average articulation. The plug-on weapons are stupid and ugly, and actively make both the weapons and the armor pieces worse. The fur sculpting is actual very... I'm not sure what word to use here. It looks like a first try. It looks like how fur looks if you were sketching it on a piece of paper rather than putting it on a 3D object. It needs a lot more refinement - it's currently somehow both not detailed enough, and also way too much.

I am a HUGE Battle Beasts fan, and I would love for this line to be really good. But this just isn't hitting the right notes for me.

Yeah I knew the Bear and Lion would be too lanky and small so I went with the Wolf and Shark. They certainly aren't perfect but they arent the worst kickstarter figures I've owned.

Mine are on the shelf behind High Evolutionary as some of his experiments turned soldiers.

Great use for them.

I only got the wolf, and I like it as a figure, but it definitely has a design flaw with the kneecaps. Both of mine broke off. The tab's that plug into the joint are gone, so gluing didn't really work...when I tried moving the legs again they still cracked off. Pretty upset at that. Outside of that, it's a fun -toy- and I appreciate the swap parts and ability to customize the weapons setup.
