The Sculpts on The Master Replicas SNW Pike and Spock look good. From the waist down they look terrible... and I wonder how limited the articulation is going to be? 4.5" scale though might be a pass though for me.

or Riker??? This was an issue even when AA did the ENT bridge. None of those figures could sit properly due in large to rubber bodies. The AA TOS and DST figures though do a decent job and at least can sit upright, so in that regard, this is a step backward.

I'd like to note that Preston has a really cool accessory that helps you overlook any issues with the face sculpt and paint! it really is neat accessory... thinking about glueing it in place :p:LOL::ROFLMAO:

Master replicas seems to be testing this... I like the looks,... but not sure $28 is a buy for a 4.5" figure. I agree that those will hit a chord... but man I love SNW! Mounts Pike is perfect to me. the look and feel of that show is retro while modern at the same time.

Yeah I was thinking they feel the need to complete the Mattel line...at 1st I thought they might do the "foreign" releases as singles like they did with Ice man... but I guess not! I would love a onesie Thing with boots!

I mean... I kinda think I should make little bags to put on the heads of all the figures in this wave... cause everything from the head down is pretty good! All the accessories that come with these figures are very nice. Sulu probably came out best of the lot... and I really haven't decided to...

I say yes to a 3rd wave... A new Kang and Doc Ock would be welcome... Zsaji is a great idea... Volcana is a must to go with Owen and Titana.

Archers head sculpt is a complete miss for sure... On the other hand... Valkris may be an unexpected favorite. The paint apps on the head still suffer the same issue as the entire wave, however, the body and head tones match nicely, and though the detail promised in the promo shots aren't...

Here's a side by side of my archer kit bash and the Nacelle Archer. This is easily the most disappointing figure of the series. The sculpt just isn't there IMO. The body is great... but my AA kit bash isn't standing up to time very well either. MM Enterprise crew.

Bicep cuts are wack... but so were DSTs... not that its a defense... just means they have not improved. I've pulled out Weyoun and MM Archer. Weyoun Looks good as well to me... but the head ball... and in fact many joints on all these figures are pretty loose... the Head sculpt on MM Archer is...

1st impressions: Packaging is nice, and the Valkris is def has a feel of a deluxe figure as the packaging is twice as large as all the others. The paints are not perfect but, here's a photo along side a DST kit bash I did for a Capt Sulu. The paint on the head seems to "muted"? its missing good...

Looks like my order will arrive today... just before 3rd winter hits here.

Well... can't say I'd put that Preston out front on my display, I agree with others that the sculpt seems to be there, but the paint is the issue. The suit is too clean looking IMO... some paint to accent the wrinkles and wear would have been great. The scarred head, while a nice idea, just...

I've been sticking with the DST MS Abomination... but he's a bit too large IMO and not much articulation, but everything else is spot on IMO.

I do love good articulation when playing with figures... but I also have to admit that most of the time I just have my collection in a static display... and most standard Trek uniforms are, well.. uniform so there not a lot of variation... so the lack of good articulation In much of the AA/DST...

The OP seemed pretty thrilled... but as you say, everyone has their own expectations. I doubt I'll keep the Tuvix or Valkris figures. But... I'm not sure that MM Archer will be much better than my decade old AA kit bash. That would be a huge disappointment. I think the paint is what might be...

Here's hoping I can head swap archer or sulu with AA/DST heads... I'm def being more selective on wave 2.

I see this with almost every Target Exclusive, but usually they have plenty for the pegs and Ive usually been able to find them with ease when released.

Thats a good question... and a good idea... its an irritation to have pre-paid money for so long.

And they say that its a 4 week delay for in-stock items, which kinda makes em a preorder IMO... but heck not as long a wait for those that did. When did pre-orders start? I think Mine was place in July... so I wonder what they are up to?!
