MONDO Masters of the Universe 1/12 and 1/6

Con

The very fact you need to have a discussion as to whether or not you want them for these reasons.

No sass at all. I started working with this logic a while ago. If you really wanted it, we wouldn't be having this discussion. Ergo, let it go.

Well, the other option was JUST collecting these, and offloading my Masterverse to save some room.
Hence the question; are you going to be happy with that collection if you only get 2 figures, or only 4, or if some critical core character never gets made? Masterverse has done the -main- cast like three times. That is a collection you can tighten up or expand pretty easily with what's available. Are you happy with Masterverse and all of this discussion is just the novelty of 'high end He-Man toys' even though you don't even REALLY want them?

You know.. what Alt said while I was typing this.

Bingo. I had the same internal discussion about keeping or unloading the Neca Last Ronin flashback Turts recently. Ended up selling them because I didn't feel any joy in having the figs around. If it comes to buying new stuff that I'm on the fence about, usually after a week or 2 of keeping myself from commiting I get to the point of "nah, I don't want it anymore" and move on.

I'm okay with a handful of figures. I flamed out on the current Masters figures. It even extends to the Thundercats crossover where I'm seeing Panthro and Tygra in stores, but not buying to finish the core. Thundercats in 5.5" was supposed to be a big deal! Same thing happened with TMNT.

I asked them on Instagram--they're spacing the releases out a bit for us to catch up. So Man-At-Arms will be going up a little later.

Man, I was fully ready to be out. That Skeletor pulled me back in. He looks too good.

Would rather have more faceplates than a second havoc staff that I'll never use. Don't doubt it was probably flaming in some episode of the show, but I don't need that obscure an item included. At least Ray Stantz' bunny cowl is small, I can only wonder "what else could we have gotten in lieu of a second staff?" More hands and/or more faces please. Don't need some item no one remembers.

Glad Man at Arms is coming later down the road. Cramming these together to form one 1/6th Mondo (in terms of price) was going to put me out entirely.

I want to pass on this line in general, but I LOVED the look of Skeletor so much compared to the Filmation version. This one just LOOKED menacing all around, and Mondo has said that this figure should have a peg in the hood to make the skull look like it's floating.

I'm not a MOTU guy. I don't have anything against the property; I've just never seen a single episode. My only connection is Robot Chicken, however accurate those sketches are. Well, and the meme of Prince Adam singing What's Up. (I almost bought whoever's SDCC exclusive meme figure when it happened. I fucking love that song.)

I've never been drawn to He-Man's design before, but that Mondo figure had me reconsidering.

Skeletor is a different story. Again, despite having zero connection to the property, I feel like Skeletor and I are kindred spirits. Mumm-Ra dreams of being as cool as Skeletor. Skeletor's like Doctor Doom, but a little whiny. (He's just like me, fr.) Then again, maybe he's not. I literally have no idea.

I saw Skeletor on Robo's weekly and I've been ogling him for hours. I can't spend ~$130 and valuable shelf space on a character I have no connection to, right? Right?

These Mondo figures are tempting me like nothing else.

Skeletor literally prevented me from cancelling my preorders for He-Man and Clawful. I was ready to walk away from the line and stick to Masterverse. And then that reveal, and...yeah. I'm fully on board. Sadly.

I think the Clawful is a MASTERPIECE. The rest of it looks good but doesn't give me 200x or MOTU vibes at all. Can't bring myself to roll with just a Clawful at that size, and I already have the staction. MOTU is my thing. I've had a complete vintage US collection since 2001. Complete Classics. There are too many options now, and you have to be choosy. We are approaching TMNT levels of oversaturation... not yet, but in the same phase it was 5 years ago.

It's just Masterverse and these for me. I never got in on the earlier stuff (outside of my childhood, of course). I don't imagine I'll be getting in on the movie stuff either at 5.5" scale, but who knows, maybe they'll blow me away.
