I need a new head for desert Slaughter. Can't have two Sarges on the shelf, your create a temporal paradox. My biggest issue is he has such a meaty neck, so almost none of my buckets of Marvel Legends heads are anywhere close. I'm trying the Commander Rodgers head, it kinda matches the neck, but will blow off if I look at it wrong.
You don't just have themed areas? Like here's the desert versions, here's the arctic versions...
Yesterday a $5 off $25 toy purchase coupon from Target changed my tune on buying Grim Viper real quick. Getting these guys for $20 instead of $28-30 is night and day for me. $20 gives me some nostalgia for when MLs went from $16 to $20 and I thought it was a price error. Anyways...
Grim Viper is cool. He's not Range Viper levels of cool, but he's cool. I'm still torn as to where I'd like this guy in my Cobra ranks, as I don't like the canon that he's a Range Viper but better, or whatever they were telling us. I'd rather he be a singular character, maybe another scientifically-tested freak from Mindbenders lab, or maybe a Dreadnok who thinks Range Vipers are cool as shit and wants to be one, or just some dude that hangs out with Shadow Tracker.
If I had to name an issue with this figure, just inherently from his design, it's that he's wearing primarily Joe colors. I love brown and green tones together, but it doesn't scream "Viper". I'm sure for many this was off-putting, whether or not it was consciously on your mind seeing him. In person, I still feel that way, like he doesn't really work in the grand scheme of things. But in the small scheme, he's a cool figure, miles better than the average ML with his great articulation. Everything works fine, even the butterflies and ab crunch. He's basically the better Crossbones, but he doesn't look as cool as the most-recent ML Crossbones.
The arm camo is fantastic, holy hell, I wish his legs had it.
PS: Random but I was looking up Shadow Tracker's name and saw that Retro Snake Eyes is $100+ on the secondary market. This figure needs a rerelease so badly. Get him on one of the newer stiff cardbacks, release him everywhere. To release the retro version of the most-popular character in your retro-inspired toy line, ONLY at Walmart and in limited quantities is so stupid! I have this figure but everyone deserves another chance (and I'd buy multiples to use as army builders).
