Trump downplays economic woes as partisan spin, saying, 'Costs are way down'
President Donald Trump continued to insist the economy is strong and even insisted polls showing Americans are feeling economic pain are "fake."
In the end the Party would announce that two and two made five, and you would have to believe it. It was inevitable that they should make that claim sooner or later: the logic of their position demanded it. Not merely the validity of experience, but the very existence of external reality, was tacitly denied by their philosophy. The heresy of heresies was common sense. And what was terrifying was not that they would kill you for thinking otherwise, but that they might be right. For, after all, how do we know that two and two make four? Or that the force of gravity works? Or that the past is unchangeable? If both the past and the external world exist only in the mind, and if the mind itself is controllable—what then?![]()

With cost savings at every step, you won't find a better deal on the market!
But he won't.well that means he has to admit tariffs are the problem
My favourite handwaves whenever prices are brought up around me is, "Just go to this other store that isn't convenient to you, it's cheaper" (it's not), "Just go to Costco instead," "Just don't buy it, why are you buying that if you're tight on money".to prices. $5.39 for a regular sized box of freaking cereal. $3.59 for a small jar of peanut butter. $2.50 for generic cup o' noodles. We spent 100 bucks for little things here and there--not even for ourselves.
Good on you.Speaking of, wife and I went to the grocery today to shop for things to load up the local food pantry for those in need. We do that the 1st and 15th of every month.
Sound advice. We donate to animal shelters/rescues and that's how we do it. It's so hard to know what they actually need, and sometimes it's actually stuff I never would consider ("we need catnip - which seems like a waste of resources until you realize it calms the animals down and helps them acclimate to each other without panicking"). Great idea. That's why you do the thing and I just write a check.Good on you.
You may want to check with your local food pantry to see if they prefer food or cash donations. Mine prefers cash because they get better deals on food than we do at the grocery store. They're also better able to gauge what they need than I am.
During their first debate in 2020, there was a meme that had Trump as Heat Miser, and Biden as Snow Miser. I about fell out of my chair laughing....very appropriate.
