CREATIVE BEAST STUDIOS Beasts of the Meso/Ceno/Cyberzoic

Terror bird looks awesome.

Redoing the T Rex is interesting. Silva states they'll reuse the sculpt but hopefully they'll tweaknthe joint ranges to improve articulation. The original was a brick and, for an action figure enthusiast, was disappointing despite being gorgeous.

I did love CB's initial raptor series and the terror bird looks like a very nice continuation of that.

And yeah, couldn't agree more on the initial 1:18th T-Rex. I think mine was out of the box for like a day before I got annoyed with it and put it back. Thankfully I chose the Dino Riders version with the cool box art after waffling on a decision between that and the standard version for the entire Kickstarter.

The thing I hope is that those legs can articulate forward enough to at least seem like they provide the right center of balance for the terror bird. For the paint master obviously they aren't worried about that posing, but looking at it here it's like "Jesus that thing could never stand at that angle". And it may not be able to stand as a figure without the base, that's just the limitations of plastic having different weight distribution than a real animal. But I want it to at least look like it can stand.

My wife bought the 1:35 scale version to use as a posing model for paleo art and was absolutely furious it can’t move its head because of the neck engineering (it’s since been replaced with Nanmu’s Sovereign of the I’m not gonna write all that… Bull Rex which actually can turn its head and tail)

I’m not sure I’d personally buy another CB Rex (it feels like too little, too late.) but I’m glad they’re listening to feedback and trying to improve. The free-if-you-bought-cyberzoic-repaints-or-for-sale-later upgrade kits were a nice start, and redoing the Rex so any future customers get a better product is even better. I just hope this “we’re rethinking the large theropod articulation” was implemented BEFORE they started engineering that Carnotaur I’m waiting on, not that it’ll be able to move its neck with the armor on anyway, it’s just the thought that counts…

Terror Bird looks incredible and I shall getting that though!
