Marvel Legends Gamerverse

Sorry it took so long, but for those looking for cigars for the Gamerverse (or any) Fury.

Just search dollhouse cigars on AliExpress. Mine came in a pack of 12, and they're soft enough that you could cut it thin on the end for an open mouth, and to make it look like it has been smoked, and even glue a little 'smoke' on the end.

I've been after a Max Carnage retro themed wave for a while. So I'll take any gamer excuse for those characters.
I LOVED playing Maximum Carnage and I'm still not really happy with any of the Carnage and Venom figures they've made so maybe that would be a good 'in' for more opportunity there. But I don't want cell shaded shit or anything like that in my collection so.... I don't really know what they'd do to differentiate them.

No I want regular figures with updates.

Shriek's Armadillo head didnt read as that era, for me. Hair style, at least.

And it's been a long time since we had Deathlok, Cloak, Dagger. Excuse for new Doppel. Demo.

And Felicia and Firestar in jacket are already top wants for me, and this is an excuse to do it.

Do I actually care about Max Carnage or Carnage. Not really. But it seems the perfect banner to get a lot of 90s wants out.

And you put them on that Sienkiewicz artwork for the card? Feels like every breed of collector should win.

I was also a huge X-Men Legends 1 & 2 fan. I also absolutely loved the first two Marvel Ultimate Alliance games. About a year ago I bought MUA 3 for Switch, and it was just so different than I remember the other games and I got very little joy out of it. I was really surprised how uninspired I was to play MUA3, when I know for a fact I'd play the hell out of the other games still if I could get my hands on them.
Right there with you. I was kind of pumped to get the boy a Switch so I could play it and then... meh. I'm not sure I can put a finger on why though.

It's funny - I am clearly in a minority of action figure fans who has zero affinity for video games. I played alot on my Atari 2600 as a kid, and played som Duck Hunt and Legend of Zelda on my original NES in college and then really nothing after that. Even most of the arcade games - X-Men, Marvel v Capcom - were after my time (I was a Centipede, Dig Dug, Robotron era cabimet game guy)

I played one of the side scrolling X-Men games with my oldest when we first got the PS2... but I wasn't good and didn't play alot. I've never touched the Spidey games on the PS4/5 - though my boys finished them. I own them, I just don't really like modern video games.

So I look to the figures to fill gaps in my collection and I honestly don't care about repping the game design at all.

All solid points. And I guess this is an “in” for us to get a Mark Bagley styled Venom, Carnage and Spider-Man. Hell I wouldn’t even mind seeing a shirtless Peter Parker with bandages around his broken ribs.

And it just occurred to me but this would be a valid excuse to get a deluxe Digger unit from Separation Anxiety/Venom: Lethal Protector

Excluding the obvious "Legends should be significantly cheaper" that is never happening, this summarizes the two things I want most from any Marvel or DC toyline.

The first being waves themed around specific character rosters from the most iconic stories from the company's history. I don't know how we've only gotten Age of Apocalypse waves like this, there's so many stories and groups that could be solid one or two wave releases. Maximum Carnage and Clone Saga both fit this bill really well, and have both very obvious rereleases/redos as well as first timer figures.

And of course, figures that actually evoke the source material. I do not give a single shit about some modern J Scott Campbell variant cover for a book from 2019, or some trading card or 2007 handbook art that looks nothing like the character did in the actual stories. I'm a huge fan of volumous hair, most characters getting their hair deflated en masse is a choice made to spite me in particular.

Dude, same. I’ve been clamoring for figures from the clone saga and onslaught era for years. I even want characters that only appeared in the prestige bound one shots like Mr Shiv from Wolverine: Bloody Choices. There’s a goldmine of characters to choose from and we are missing out on so many because Hasbro seems hell bent on mostly rereleasing the top 50 characters in their various alternate comics while only sprinkling in the z listers

I've heard this from a few people. I never played it, though

I remember it feeling incredibly grindy. And I played the hell out of the other games, and I remember quite a bit of grind to level all the characters up and all that, but it was different in #3 - possibly because of the multiple additional currency systems that felt overcomplicated and tedious.

Would love for them to do more focused releases in waves, or at least in close proximity to each other. For the waves I'm sure part of it comes down to needing flexibility to meet budgets - it's a lot harder to specify that a wave *must* have these specific characters, as opposed to grab-bag sets where you can swap in whatever lower-effort figures you need to make the numbers add up. It seems like more cohesive releases would drive more people to pick up the whole set instead of cherry-picking and offset whatever budget issue is there, but maybe the AoA waves didn't pan out that way, and it made them gun-shy to try it again.

I'm encouraged by the Inhumans, though. By ML standards they basically speed-ran putting out the entire team (starting with Karnak in 2023) so maybe they're trying "actually completing groups that people want" on for size.
