Big Bad Workshop General

Its about to get worse... they are doing the indie comics line with Madman, Grendel, Tick, etc

Also they are doing the civilians line.

Oh yeah and 1/12 Eagle Force. The Eagle Force line will be the one most consistent with Soldiers of Fortune and Operation Monster Force in theme.

But all of it is going to be awesome.

Don't forget C.O.P.s! Just the one figure announced so far.

Sure sure sure.

I also left out Naughty or Nice because they and COPS aren't actual parts of the shared Monster Force universe.

But seriously, Bill Murphy used to post pictures on the Fresh Monkey Fans Facebook group asking, like, "what do you think of this guy" or "here's something we're working on." But I had to go back to June of last year to find the last example of when they did that.

Probably got tired of me complaining about how the Ambassador was originally shown to come *with* the Lovecraft head and now that's a wave extra.

Hasbro currently has almost no competition for 1/12 articulated animals, which is SO weird. Someone could pick up that market if they wanted to, but it is SO weird that my best articulated dogs, wolves, big cats, SCORPIONS, and weird-ass D&D monsters are from Hasbro and not someone fancier. It's like finding out the best prime rib in town is at the 99.

I think the problem is that, cool as they are, there's basically no market for any of that. Hasbro can work it into the cost of the line overall. Joe is killing it right now and after like 4 successful HasLabs they've proven they can invest and we'll show up. But a more boutique company (meaning higher prices) making just the most expensive animal action figures you've ever seen, with no nostalgia grabs?
I'd love to see it, but I'm also fairly sure that company would go out of business immediately.

I am a little surprised we don't see more legit monster stuff from the likes of even the 4H, or Savage Crucible (although they're just getting started, to be fair).

Yeah, 4H's horses are magnificent, and the monster/mount they just put out with Cosmic Legions is legitimately a LOT of fun to pose and mess with. I think 4H is hesitant to make much that can't be broken apart for customizers though (aside from the crab guy on preorder right now it's been a while since they did something with a unique body type - they even reused the bug/mount/monster a second time already).

There's really no reason for Hasbro to get into animals as its own line, yeah, but I do appreciate that when they have an excuse to make one they really nail it. Fiona the crocodile can stand alone as her own figure in or out of the Joes line.

The owlbear is a little cartoonish/boring, but the beholder and displacer beasts they made are effin' fantastic.

Anyway, I'd be curious about a pulp hero line from BBWS. We had that whole convo a few weeks back about Doc Savage and that whole generation of characters. I think there's a strong niche interest there.

A generic two-fisted adventure line has TONS of potential and I will watch it carefully. One of my favorite LEGO themes of all time was Adventurers. I actually.. do not like Indiana Jones... at all. But I like a lot of stuff that informed Indiana Jones.

However long back, FMF sneak peeked Agents of Omega on their Facebook page and it was basically just guys in jackets. The intent at the time was for them to make the figures, but Gridiron would produce the Adventure Gear packs. Like, you'd buy a "guy in tan jacket" and Gridiron would have a set of "pyramid exploration gear" or something. I thought at the time that it was the gear that made the adventurer and I was a little underwhelmed.

The guy fighting the snake was NOT part of that sneak peak, so it's possible the idea has evolved.

I did really like this Mummy's Tomb guy, though. I thought the swappable turtleneck was cool and he looks like a good start on a 70s Blade-type Blacksploitation vampire hunter.

I could definitely get into a line of generic "guys in jackets. I don't love the concept of needing to buy gear from a secondary vendor for a figure ("don't let them take you to a secondary location!") but even guys in jackets with a pistol, a knife, and a hunting rifle or grease gun would be great.
