Ghostbusters General Thread

Spent the last hour-and-a-half on the ecto, haven't even touched the figures, but it's getting late. The lights and sound are insanely cool. Especially in "2" mode. The doors, however, really could have been done better. Not smooth at all. I haven't got to the decals yet, and it may be blasphemy, but I'm likely putting the OG stickers on the 2 build.

I did quickly look at the figures in packaging and they look good. Nice face print tech on them. Slimer seems a bit big, but maybe my memory is off.

Lot more playing to go, but so far, it's pretty good.

I checked my tracking again this morning and it updated to the package arriving at that Walgreens! So no guess work necessary, just had to show my ID and I picked it up. Will have to wait til the weekend til I can give it the attention it deserves.
I did the exact same thing. I lost 2 hours of playtime though because I had new tires put on my vehicle today.

Are the decals removable? I swear Hasbro said they were at some point.

They did say that, yeah. Re-usable "a few times" so you can switch it back and forth. A few YT reviews I've seen say that the stickers actually aren't re-usable and that you don't get very many of them for swapping, so I don't know. Mine hasn't shipped yet, so I can't verify it, myself.

For those of you who have it already, does it feel like a $400 collectors item? I've seen some reviews where they mention it feels very plastic-y (which, I suppose duh because it's made of plastic, but I think they mean "cheap") and that they didn't feel they had received their money's worth. What do you guys think? I trust the opinions here more than the YT guys.

On a personal note, I do think it's shitty that we have to apply the stickers ourselves. I don't know how else they could have set it up for swapping back and forth, but stickers on a $400 item just seems odd to me. But I also don't buy a lot of $400 items, so....maybe it's me lol

I got the basic set, and my stickers came with at least 3 sets of each sticker, so if you remove them more than 2-3 times and they stop sticking, or you tear them, you have extras.

i had to readjust the hood louver stickers and was able to peel them off with a pair of pointy tweezers and reapply them twice. Once they've been there for a while they might be a little trickier, but if you only use one set at a time, if they lose adhesion you should have some spares.

Honestly though, unless you are going for 100% screen accurate on either version, I'd say use the ones you like the most and stick with that. I just don't trust that Hasbro REALLY tested out how well swapping them will work over the long term.

Just opened and put together my Ecto-1. I’m keeping it as the first movie version. The instructions for this suck. Lousy at telling you what parts there are or where they go, sticker placement is equally ambiguous and difficult to see with my aging eyes. But once it’s set up, it’s pretty gorgeous. Haven’t loaded batteries into it yet, and I’m not sure I will. I should at least once though, right?

This is the catalyst for finally opening my Mezco One:12 GBs. They are nearly a head taller than the Hasbro figures, and I think scale better with this HasLab. They also all fit inside with room to spare. Well, three guys do. I’ve got Winston in the driver’s seat, Ray in shotgun, and Egon in the back. Even their proton packs, which are slightly larger than the Hasbro packs, fit on the gurney and can squeeze into the trunk! Finally have a premium accessory for premium figures. Now to find a place to display this thing!

The Hasbro figures are all fine. In comparison to the mass release figures from the first movie, these are actually much nicer. Better paints, better likenesses, lots of fun accessories, in particular the slime blowers. Tully even looks way better than his Vinz Clortho version. The ghosts are also excellent. Love how Slimer came out, though I’m surprised he’s they didn’t make him translucent, he’s totally opaque! The library ghost does exactly what she needs to do.

Has anyone tried the always on USB light option yet? I'm hoping that works as advertised so I can hook this up to a wifi switch.

I didn’t even see a USB cord or port, but I haven’t looked closely. I did just put some batteries in…

I believe the USB port is on the bottom. It's pointed out in the video I posted.
I don't think they included a USB cable, just the port for that option if people wanted it.

Yeah, just watched an unboxing video and saw where it is included. I haven't opened mine yet, probably next weekend when my vacation starts. Then I need to figure out how I'm going to get into the display and run power to it. I'll add lights to the display while I'm at it.

I really struggled with whether or not two buy two of these, but I'm not even sure how I'm going to fit the one in my display yet. Still, I waffle between regret and not and if the standard version were to pop up on Pulse by some miracle, I'd probably pull the trigger.
