General Marvel Legends

I REALLY wanna know what happened with that wave. Is it all the damn lawsuit's fault?
I think that it's more about how poorly some other movie figures have sold in recent history and that now Hasbro is gun-shy. The Eternals and Multiverse of Madness waves can still be found for deep clearance. If felt like the run for the Fantastic Four movie figures was far more limited than usual as well. Walmart just recently clearanced out their Thunderbolts 2-packs for $20-$25. I bought multiple Brave New World deluxe figures for under $10 each. Those types of things won't help more figures get made. With that being said, you'd think that Deadpool move figures would be pretty profitable --- but what do I know? Dan and Dwight have made it sounds like they intend to be all in on the 2026 MCU movies, though.

I agree, I think the MCU figures really underperformed recently (after they tried to go 5 to 6 figures deep for many films and D+ offerings) so they may have been cautious about production apart from the big guns of DP and Wolvie.

They might also have been in the same situation as No Way Home where the studio was trying to keep the cameos/cast quiet, so Hasbro was not given permission to start development on possible figures like Gambit or adult X-23 in time to have them available.

I also wonder if Hasbro is more gun shy about figures associated with R and TV-MA media.

Eternals/MoM < Deadpool AND Wolverine (AND Gambit AND Blade AND X23)

Elektra is tops for me amongst all those but I know her appeal is limited, sadly.

I think Doomsday's cast announcement is part of it as well - with some of these characters in play (really only Gambit, but we didn't know at the time), I think they thought maybe shifting it into 2026 was a good idea. I hope that's what happened.

Really want Cassandra and Elektra. And I never made a bare-arms Logan so that, too.

Yeah, Eternals, MoM, and even a couple of the GotG3 figures stuck around here for ages. Now it seems like, unfortunately, the Thunderbolts packs are shelfwarming too. I have to wonder what all the underperforming of certain waves did for any future plans. What all was planned that got canned because of the low performance? If anything? I'd have to assume there was at least some stuff on the table that they noped out of due to low sales- maybe more of the things that would've been a gamble, like the Dar-Ben 2 pack that was rumored (assuming it was even true to begin with).

I only partly blame Hasbro here, though. The secrecy of Disney is starting to hurt these companies, it seems. They don't provide the necessary materials before a film's release, so oftentimes there's nothing to buy upon release to capitalize on the hype. By the time they do have the materials and can release figures, unless it's a movie that did gangbusters or was well received, they'll probably sit on shelves and not sell. What happened to the good old days of NDAs? Doesn't stop stuff from leaking, granted, but a lot of times that helps drum up even more hype.

That said, I feel like another D&W wave is all but certain at this point, given the reception of the movie. Deadpool and Wolverine both are characters that a lot of people would buy at any time, not just around the release of a movie. Other possibilities like more Thunderbolts, more D+ stuff, etc. is more up in the air.

Good ol' NDAs are very much still around!

What was the stat, either in this thread or another, that 40% of movie merch is sold pre-release? Perhaps that's the problem right there - nothing is ready early enough to sell well because of the one-two punch of studio/filmmaker secrecy and compressed production schedules.

Frankly, I don't even know why these things are so secret. OMG, can't let people know what Ant Man's third wardrobe change will look like. That's what EVERYONE is coming to the theater to find out! Get fucked. Nobody is skipping the new Avengers movie because they already got to see what the new War Machine armor looks like via a fucking action figure or control art leak.

I know this is just out of nowhere, but hey, it's the General Marvel Legends Thread. I was happy recently to add Enchantress and Skurge to the collection. And I had a checklist of some of the more important characters that I still need for my Villains, as I have never bought their previous releases.

And I'm down to Abomination, Annihilus, and The Mandarin. I hope those characters come out soon. Abomination and Mandarin are rumored, aren't they? I know Mandarin came out in that Amazon 2 Pack recently, but that's not the look for him I want.

It's been SO long.... if we get a new Annihilus, I'd really like Hasbro to revisit Nova Prime. Annihilation Conquest was like my favorite cosmic storyline ever.

I'd be SO down for Annihilation to get some ML love. The 20 year anniversary of the first Annihilation is coming up in 2026, and Cosmic Invasion looks to be Annihilation-inspired - how about some anniversary figures? Redos of Annihilus, Nova Prime, Drax. First time figures of Phyla-Vell, Kl'rt, the Annihilators, some Phalanx or Space Knights, the rest of the GotG...Hell, I'd still buy a figure of Wraith even though I don't think he's that interesting.

I'd like to see it in ML, but I always thought Nova Prime would be a perfect figure for Amazing Yamaguchi to tackle too.

I'm trying to hold onto hope that Cosmic Invasion will help get us some more Annihilation stuff in Legends. But then I'm also disappointed because it doesn't even look like Nova Prime is a skin in the damn game.

At this point I just want the battle damaged sleeveless Wolverine from DP3. I don't even really care about the Tatum Gambit at this point. Hasbro ran out the clock on that film with me. Now, X-Men from the Fox films I could use a couple more of.

I'm a little late to the party here, but the Extremis/Mandarin pack is much better than expected. I mean Yeah Mandarin in the suit is dull (Ill hunt down a movie Mandarin if I can and swap the parts on) but the Extremis is SO much better than i expected. the new chest/waist adds not just movement, but bulk and makes it feel more like a guy in armor than the first did. VERY pleased with it.
